Grant, I think it's more that we have different styles. I go for strong colors, high value contrast, and a COI that's in sharp focus; subtlety isn't usually a big part of my images.
You often show us a softer, more pleasing style. In your photo above, your subtle touch with the muted colors, calming (and almost swirling) background, and subdued value contrast conveys a different mood - in this case serene and kinda dream-like.
