Good morning, GENTS.

We finally got some sunshine today after many days of dreary skies that brought light rain morning, noon and night.  Everything is soggy, but thankfully NOT snowy or icy.  But we are ready for that snowstorm, Rich, that you are getting bombed by right now.  I will be expecting some views from the balcony soon.  I wish we would get a little, I am anxious to take my TWO cameras out for a walk in some fresh snow and see how I do with the load resting on my shoulders with my new DOUBLE camera strap.

Dave,
It almost looks like icy pellets surround the Rose. It is really pretty. If it were mine, I would be tempted to snip it off and place it in my freezer to see what photos I could take after the droplets froze.  I remember that was a challenge from one of the FLICKR sites, to take a photo of something frozen.  It was not an easy thing to do, since when the water freezes, it turns whiteish and then you lose sight of the thing behind the ice. It does not turn out crystal clear like when mother nature does it sometimes.

Grant, your icy-encrusted branches are beautiful.  You did a great job by pushing the color to warm the photo and create depth.  That is a lovely framed composition.  I sure feel your cold!

Rich,
Keep looking at that gorgeous photo as the storm drops its load around you.  Thankfully you have images like that to distract from the cold wet stuff.  The bad thing about snow is it is NOT, "here today, gone tomorrow".  It lingers longer than appreciated.  It is the newly fallen stuff that one enjoys the most.  Luckily you do not have to shovel it.  Your image is amazing.  Gosh, I love the waves rolling in, the trees and greenery on the cliffs and I am glad that you pointed out the lighthouse.  Wow, it puts things in perspective.

So, I decided NOT to submit the snow globe for Macro Monday's in FLICKR but took a photo of something else. I felt that I overprocessed the globe and it was not a good representation of pretty it actually looked.  The theme is something new. So, I may be going with the photo below.

The most recent hobby that I started in 2022 is quilting.  I quickly learned that "we quilters" like are gadgets and this is one that my daughter bought me from a small quilt shop.  We like to support small businesses, now more so than ever since they continue to struggle and more and more are having to close their doors for good.  I heard this morning that they have now come to the point where they must raise their prices to keep afloat due to the higher cost of staying in business, like heating, their cost of merchandise or ingredients to make products, etc.,

This is a new PIN holder.  It is a tiny (1.5" tall, 2.5" wide) cup with an extremely strong magnet at the bottom.  What makes this special is that you can drop the pins from 5-10" overhead and they land sticking straight up in the cup.  So what, you say.  Yes, I heard you!  Well, when you go to retrieve a pin, all the pins are sticking straight up, if you turn the caddy over or if it gets bumped, the pins stay inside and do not spill out.  Unlike a pin cushion where you have to press the pins into it.  It is difficult to explain why this works so well, so I think I shall stop before I bore you anymore. But the darn thing really works great.

Have a great day, all.
LORELL

ps. Grant, you posted while I was writing my story.  That looks like a sea creature.  The lighting is wonderful. Thanks for reminding me about the plusses of a nice big snowfall.
