Eleanor Velasco Thornton was the name adopted by Nelly Thornton.
At 22, she was the secretary of John Edward Scott-Montagu, who became the second Baron Montagu of Beaulieu in 1905. She became his mistress and they had an illegitimate daughter, Joan Eleanor Thornton, whom she gave up for adoption. Thornton posed for sculptor Charles Sykes and may[1] have been the model for his Spirit of Ecstasy,[2] which is used as the bonnet/hood ornament on cars manufactured by Rolls-Royce, as well as a precursor sculpture, The Whisperer.
Dave, you caught an interesting sunrise there.
I find the beginnings and ends of days to change very quickly when trying to photograph them. Still remarkable in my minds eye is this shot where the sun had been shining through and reflecting on the water as I was driving closer to the lake's edge but by the time I got out of the car, the only shot I got was this.
No, I wouldn't want one. But if I had the money to get one I'd be able to buy all sorts of things I would love to have.
MFI, thanks.
And I agree with you 100% about things changing quickly at dawn and dusk. If I see a beautiful sunrise from my house as I start my usual morning walk I know I'm too late because because by the time I reach the first vantage point with a good view of the sky (that takes 5 or 6 minutes if I hurry) the light and color intensity will have changed into something far less photogenic.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Happens to me a lot. Reason being I've planted too many trees nearby to get any shots without walking a few hundred metres and then the shots are almost entirely empty of trees but pretty boring landscapes shot over and over, I'd have to be in the car with cameras at the ready and manage to drive a long way to find a decent vantage point. By which time the light show is over.
As for the Rolls. Nah, couldn't affored the fuel. Thirsty engine.
