Well, our rains stopped yesterday and by late morning we had sunny skies. But more will arrive on Monday in my area.
It was nice to get out to experience the special light that comes with a sunny day after the rains. I took lots of photos, but few turned out worth keeping.
But here's one, taken around 6:45 yesterday morning...

Is that a lemon Dave? Good to hear that the rain has stopped. We had a lot of rain here while we were in Texas. The rain gauge had over 6 inches in it when I checked it on our return. The weather we had in Texas was pretty nice though, not nearly as cold as it was last year when we went to Laredo.
BTW, I like how you choose your frames. I have been trying to add some frames to some of my own images recently. Here are a few more from the Texas trip. I might dig some photos out of the archives from the Panama Canal cruise as I didn't really share many of them. Maybe later.

Don, I think it's probably a lime. But I suppose it could be a small slightly greenish lemon.
Nice photos. I really like the subtle shadows cast by the colorful simulated frames, but I think the mats might look better if they were the same size on all 4 sides.

Yeah, I agree, but the software I am using apparently won't let me do that - I tried. Maybe I'll look around for a different method. I used Topaz Studio 2 for there, but I know there are other methods.

In Photoshop (any version including Elements) to make the mats and frames I add a layer, move it to the bottom, use Canvas Size (in pixels not percent) to add the same desired number of pixels all around, then select a color and fill the transparent added area with it.
Sounds like too many steps, but only takes seconds.

Dave, I like the muted background on your lime. It adds depth to the image, Well done.
Don, three excellent shots. If I was doing that bird one, I may have tried to clone out the beak on the left and the feet on the right....but that's just me. Amazing capture of the spider webs! I also like the depth in your sunflower shot! Nice!
Don, I did a play inTopazStudio2.....and it took me a while to find it, but you CAN change the shape of the mat to be equal on all sides. There is a tab that you choose to edit either the frame or the mat.....look for it, it's there. I did a mat on my bluebird I will post in Friday's post.....I think the mat is equal?
Dave, beautiful, everything has come together for this one! Rain drops are a prize winning addition to an otherwise perfect shot!
Don, you and Dave are setting a high bar with the frames! Good work!
Just lovely captures!
I will critique for my taste but each person has their own.
I like the formation of the birds, nice that each one was caught with wings down. I would clone out the feet on the right and the beak on the left.
Spider web...perfect! Nice and sharp! Excellent DoF!
Sunflower, great lighting and DoF! My taste runs with a left to right alignment on most photos. I took yours into photoshop and gave it a horizontal flip so the flower is on the right. I personally like that better.
