Good After The Superbowl Monday,

I hope the team you were rooting for won last night and that you enjoyed the games, commercials, and halftime.

In the game, I was rooting for the 49ers. But, it was a good game and ended for the 49ers like it did for the LIONS when we played them in the playoffs, although they lost in overtime.
The halftime show was a great production but I did not recognize a single song.
The commercials were the best thing of all.  I laughed so many times.  I think it was so good that they brought laughter to the breaks and lifted the spirits of everyone.  Laughter is so important and they succeeded overwhelmingly.

If I were home this week, I would attend our Thursday night photo club meeting.
But I will still send in some photographs that I will share with you first.

This month's assignments are MONOTONE and Maro/Closeup.

Have a great Monday, everyone.
LORELL

PS. Starting this afternoon, we will have company for the next 12 days.  We will be busy for a while.

Thanks for starting the Dail;y, Lorell.

IMO, it takes a skilled and experienced photographer to break the cardinal rule of scapes photography (never place the horizon in the vertical center) and make it work. You did it, and it works. Good value management (perfect degree of detail in the darks, some vivid whites but not blown out), and a strong composition.

With the photos I posted yesterday I was trying to make a successful image out of one that showed a lot of unplanned camera motion. I think it was moderately successful, and this made me want to try some shots with intentional camera motion. I ended up with one that seemed to be a candidate for an impressionistic look. Here's what I ended up with...

This is just some orange leaves on a small tree in our inner front yard. There was a gentle breeze and I didn't use a tripod, so while I didn't intentionally move the camera I figured some blur would happen. I'm satisfied with the end result.

Regarding the Super Bowl I had reasons to root for both teams. With SF, I really admire McCaffrey, and the Brock Purdy story is compelling. As for KC, coach Reid  excels at halftime adjustments, and you should never bet against the Mahomes magic.

I found the first half to be sloppy, with both teams unimpressive. But thought that Reid would make the right adjustments for the second half, and Mahomes would produce another come-from-behind win. Before the game started, I predicted in Sunday's Daily that KC would win by 4 points. I should have bet on that.

Some of the commercials were fun – I like the one with the flying football players). I have no interest in the halftime music; I miss the old days when televised games concentrated on football and didn't bother with the over-hyped and overpaid music celebs, when stadiums didn't have sponsors names, and when every item of the game had a sponsor's name attached to it (I'm surprised we don't have a Charmin toilet paper halftime break.)

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

First, I had to wonder if I overslept.....for days!!  Lorell, I think it's only the 12th??
Second, I don't watch football...never have,    don't understand the game....sorry. But I'm glad anyone who enjoys it got a great overtime gave!!
Your monotone shot is excellent! I can't believe you shot into the sun? Won't that harm the lens???  Again, I wish you a very enjoyable vacation.
Dave, you DID remember the intentional movement shots we did way back when. The colors in this one are beautiful. It worked very well!!
I recently got a new phone, and took a shot of my daughter's german shepherd.....I lost my boxer to cancer, and I miss her terribly. I would love to get another boxer, but with my bad knees and back, I don't feel it's the right time to train a new puppy. I may never have another dog, it depends on my health....right now, I will just enjoy this beauty:

Oh My Gosh!
First of all, thanks Natalie for pointing out my mistake on today’s date. I at least had the correct numbers but in the reverse order.
Your daughter’s Shepard is a beauty. I love its colors and long hair. I bet it has a beautiful bushy long tail.
The one thing about your photo is the curious expression that you caught on the dog’s face. How expressive!

Our boxer isn’t doing too well but I cannot amazed that it is going on three years since she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Our last visit to the vet, though, warned us that it is progressing and we will be looking for signs to tell us that …. Well, you know how it ends.

No more boxers for us as much as we love that breed. You know all too well, Natalie. I told DH that I hope to find a lovable cat.

Dave, as much as I have tried, I have yet to take an ICM photo even slightly as good as the one you shared in this thread. And I was out there yesterday practicing that technique when I passed some pretty fern I bushes on yesterday’s walk. You have just the right amount of blur, great agreeable colors with splashes of orange. You nailed it.

I remember Natalie sharing an ICM image in WC, it was awesome and she explained how it was done.

Well, Dave and Natalie, thank you kindly for your generous praise. Hopefully I will be able to post my second Monotone photo that I took on the same pier, once again directly pointing the camera into the sun. I saved my favorite for tomorrow.

Have a good evening all.

Lorell, I agree with what Dave expressed. Excellent detail in the shadows.

Dave, another excellent ICM photo. The orange really sets it in a class all its own!
Buy a lottery ticket!

Natalie, a beautiful sheperd!

Don't worry Natalie. You aren't the only one who doesn't follow football.

Does this class as ICM? I am intentionally moving the camera. It could be called panning but I am not attempting to catch a sharp image. I did want to capture movement rather than stillness.

Stop chasing me with that pointy thing.

Then there's this one.

There is also the intentionally capturing movement in the subject matter. Mind, this sort of photography can be a bit dangerous if you look at it for too long as one could lose balance and fall into the moving picture.
