Sorry to jump ahead but it is indeed Saturday here.
Here is one of my backyard Bearded Dragons having a bit of a warm sunny winters day.

For Dave and others interested in the Womens World Cup. Both France and Australia have reasons to make this a win. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-12/m.../102720344

MFI, I always enjoy your photographs of the unique flora and fauna of your country.

About 8 hours (I think) until the Australia vs France game. Go Matildas!

That's followed by England vs Colombia.

Sorry, I have no photos ready at the moment.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Go Matildas:
1' France kicks off!

We are off and running.

France tried their immediate attack from Sandie Toletti down the left and Emily van Egmond leapt in to shut it down.

Easy money.

But eventually they do find that ball down the left to Kdidiatou Diani and she puts in the cross, but it's headed clear by Alanna Kennedy.

While you are watching, some more Mavericks music:
The Gathering.

Congratulations the the Matilda's and all their supportive (and now happy) fans,

What a tense game. back and forth, with each teams having the momentum, losing it, and regaining it.

I thought Sam Kerr did  very well, especially in her earlier minutes. And the fact that she played over 60 minutes is a good sign. I appears she's not yet at 100% but is pretty close. And I'd take Sam at 85% over most other players at 100%.

But if asked to choose a player of the game, I'd go with young Mary Fowler; she played a great game. Her skills were obvious and I'm even more impressed with how physically tough she was, especially as she is one of the smaller players.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Mary is a superstar of the future.
Look I hate it when a game that has already gone that far into extra time comes down to the cruelness of penalty shoot out.
You have to give it to Les Bleues. They played their best.

I too hate deciding who wins by Pks. It's a cruel way to lose and often falls far short of determing who was the better team.

My daily walks usually take me past the house where Ron and his wife lived, and recently the formerly well tended roses were a joy to see. Since Ron's passing the roses have been pretty much on their own, and the K-M (Ketchup & Mustard) roses in particular often look like they are doomed, but every once in a while some new blossoms beat the odds and appear. This one was taken last week...

It is a lovely rose. I'd have taken cuttings from it if I was worried that it was neglected where it is.
