Saturday & Sunday, July 15 & 16, 2023
#1
It's not quite Saturday for me, but it is for most of you, so I'm starting a Weekender before I catch some sleep.

Another oldie (June of 2023) here; it's some drought-resistant flowers from our front yard which I "Ortonized."

The softening and glow of the Orton effect seems to work best on images of the kinds commonly called Nature photography: flora and landscapes and seascapes.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

I like what you did to the flowers Dave.

Very nice image to start the weekend Dave. Bright colors on a dark background - classic.

Another hot one here, should reach the mid 90's F. I took an early morning ride before it got too hot. Also finished up a song project. An Internet friend and I have been collaborating on it - I did lyrics, rhythm guitar, vocal and lead guitar, she added drums, bass, strings, and vocals on the chorus. Fun project. I guess that is the next best thing to playing with friends in person.

Here is a photo of my new tent that I am anxious to try out. I can even stand up in it, not like the first one. I'm getting too old to be crawling in and out of a tend on all fours. The left side of the tent is supposed to be a place to park the bike, but I will likely use it as a patio if it rains, with a chair in it.

Thank you, guys.

Don, the new tent looks ideal for bike trips that involve overnight stays. I imagine it is quite compact when packed.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Good morning all.  Dave, it packs up to about 24"L X 11"W X 6"H and weighs a little over 15 lb. Not as compact as the first tent but so much more room. I ordered it from Amazon and 2 days later during Prime Days it was about $35 less expensive. So I ordered another one at the Prime price and sent the first one back. They would not adjust the price of the first one, which had not even arrived yet, so I did the next best thing.

Playing around with the Panasonic Lumix this morning. Still learning all the focus modes, etc. This one is hand held, 100 ISO and 1/20 sec. Maybe I'll shoot at 200 ISO to get a better shutter speed. I was trying to use macro mode. Not totally successful with this shot. This was in my back yard and I was rewarded with numerous mosquito bites for my effort.

Pomegramite flower buds, Don?

I didn't have a fast enough shutter speed for to catch the bird.

Beautiful effect, Grant. Of course it's always good to have an excellent photo to start with, as you did.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
