White and purplish Alyssium in the front yard. Although seed packets are usually sold in one color or the other, it's not unusual for a single plant to have blossom clusters of both colors, as this one does.

And at least in my yard, they are very simple to grow: just scatter a few seeds (I usually cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil to reduce the number that are eaten by birds or blown away by the wind) and water them a little. They seem to return and proliferate year after year.

My NFL picks:

In today's games I pick Kansas City over Jacksonville by at least 14 points, and Philadelphia over New York (Giants) by the same margin.

In Sunday's games, I think San Francisco will beat Dallas by at least 10 points, and my upset pick is Cincinnati over Buffalo by 3.

Next week I have KC beating Cincinnati, and San Francisco beating Philadelphia.

My Super Bowl pick is San Francisco over Kansas City, 34-27.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Quote from Lorell,
"I just don't know how you can stand those bitter cold temps."
Actually We are just slightly below freezing. 18-25°F.
Just cold enough to let the frost linger.

Dave, that is a unique flower. Easy to grow!

Grant, our weather today fog, sunny skies ( right now) and guess what, our trees are filled with hoarfrost! About the same temps as you!
Nice frost on the shovel. Good contrats!

Found a blue photo. A 1936 Chevy Humpback Deluxe.

I wondered how long it would take to change it! Now I know!

Grant, that's a fine capture: the blue vs brown interaction is very effective, and both the composition and value control are top quality.

It reminds me how glad I am that I left behind the winters of my youth in Michigan and my college years in Wisconsin. Still, I've gotten too acclimated to SoCal warmth, so this morning's 37 F (2.75 C) temp at 4:30 was unwelcome.

So I figured a bright, sun-lit photo would be good; I found this one representing salsa fixins in my January 2017 archives...

Dave, The Alyssium is a welcome sight even if I am a bit Green! with envy....
Your Sunlit Salsa is also welcoming. Perhaps the shadows could be opened up a bit. Just a tad though.
Rich, I like the colour they painted the 36 Chevy.... Your capture does it proud.

Dave, love the dewey image of the alyssium. I tried planting it once but it got overpowered by weeds and died out...guess it's not for me....but you seem to have success with it. Your onion veggie images is sharp and looks like a great start for almost anything, soup, pizza, spaghetti, THE main ingredients. I've been thinking of doing something like that but in the dark: light painting....been looking over the student examples of Harold Ross......light painting really impresses me...just have to find place I can set it up without cats....cats would mess me up!
Grant, love your blue shovel handle.....love that you included the shadow....that hoar frost makes for some great shots!
Rich, that car is another beauty! That blue is so vibrant! As I have said before, vintage cars are so much more interesting than today's cars!! More character!

Dave, as I was looking at this I was thinking that the salsa dance seems to mimic the salsa fixen's. Good still life!
