Oh dear, I haven't a clue.
Does it fit in a drain?

Lorell, "Does it fit in a drain?" No, it does not!! Sorry, try again!!

Okay, it is the end of a tool used to pick up things in small places. At the other end is a plunger like stem that you press and the teeth you see in this photo go out and pick up the item you are trying to pick up.
Whew, that is the best I could explain it.

All that work and I am probably wrong.

I'm stumped.

I thought that the shallow arcs cut into the white piece could be a clue, but I got nothing useful there.

While composing this I wondered if this object is part of a larger device?

Does it have anything to do with sewing, quilting, or other needlework? Maybe something to help spool or otherwise organize thread or yarn?

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks for the guess, Dave.......but no.....It has nothing to do with sewing, quilting, or other needlework and not a spool ...I will leave it til tomorrow afternoon, and then I will give the answer, unless somebody guesses correctly!! Maybe tomorrow I will take another photo of it.....
