Good morning,

Patty, a nice water fountain.

A bit damp this morning with .02 inches on the rain gauge. Today we'll hopefully finish trimming my hedge' I brought my truck to my neighbor's shop for some work and noticed these two oldies parked there. Any guesses to what make they are? An old school bus and truck. I heard the bus was to be refurbished and used in a movie in Los Angeles.

The dualie dump truck looks like a Ford, but Lorell may know better than me.
That bus is pretty cool!

"The dualie dump truck looks like a Ford, but Lorell may know better than me."

Did someone mention my name?
I have you folks fooled, I know nothing about cars, makes, models, etc., I just take their photos because they make for such great subject.
But thanks for thinking of me that way.

Patty, Someone had a real sense of humor putting by creating gushing water coming out of the radiator.  That really is cool and worth the ride to see such a cool thing.

Steve, Those are some nice relics.  It takes a lot of bucks to restore vehicles. Now we know why it making movies costs MILLIONS of dollars.  I think a lot of it goes towards costuming and props, like the bus!

I will be back with a photo, but in the meantime, here is another hint regarding my new car.
I know how you all love a good scavenger hunt or puzzle, so here is your next clue:

What a fun, whimsical variation of water splashing into a pool, damar. Thanks for making us smile.

Such a nice photo of those old vehicles, Quint.

Lorell, whatever hint as to your new car is lost on me. "Commander" and "Cody" don't help me. Maybe "Ozone" is the clue, but I'm still not getting it.

Some variety of Day Lily photographed last week...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Good morning all, almost afternoon.  Plans for the day?  Not really. I spent some time this morning playing along with a backing track for practice. A member on one of the forums I hang out on has been posting a BT every week and for practice several of us will play along, post the result, and get feedback and suggestions for improvement from some of the better players. It is fun and educational. I feel my playing as improved a lot since I started doing that.

I wanted to take a ride today but the weather is iffy, at best, so I put that on the back burner for today.

Looks like an old Chevy truck, Patty. I remember my grandfather having 2 Chevy dump trucks that he hauled coal with. Probably early 1950's as I was a wee lad at the time.

I like the old vehicles Quint. I think I might plan a trip to Old Car City here in Georgia once the weather starts cooling down a bit.

Lorell, getting a hot rod Lincoln????

Time to find some lunch here.  Oh, my new CD is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. So I'll have more to put on the shelf along with the previous 2.  Big Grin

Edit:  Missed you post Dave - great contrast in those colors!

DING, DING, DING, we got a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And tell us, what has DON won?

You will be the first to get a ride in my 2020 Lincoln Nautilus.

Not quite a hot rod, but to me, it is at least HOT!  I now have a heated steering wheel and seats!  Look out winter, here I come.  But that doesn't mean that I am going to be staying inside all summer.  Because I have COOLED seats too!

Well, when I get a good photo of the car, I will post it.  Thanks for playing fellas.

Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen made famous the song, "HOT ROD LINCOLN" (1971). If you want to sing a long and watch your foot start tapping when you listen to this oldie but goodie:  HOT ROD LINCOLN.

Dave, I like your crop and composition of your lily.  The deep reds and bright vibrant yellow is an excellent combination.  You certainly pay attention to color combinations.

Now back to the discussion at hand.

Here are some pics from my visit to the Henry FORD museum.

Dave, quite a nice flower stamen. Yellow and red backdrop go well.

Lorell, congrats on the Lincoln. What color?
That's quite a shot of a similar bus. Close but my photo is of a REO Speedwagon 1928 bus. Dump is also REO. Not just a band
but Ransom E. Olds of whom they named Oldsmobile after.

Don, thanks and car museums are always fun. We really enjoyed the one in Reno, Nevada.

Congratulations, Lorell! On both the new car and a great looking bus photo!
We JUST heard that song on the radio Sunday coming back from the lake!
What a strange coincidence! Just like the Aretha Franklin one last year!!!

Hi Don!
Was coal used a lot in Alabama/Georgia back then?
My Dad said when he was a kid, they would walk along the RR tracks with a bucket and pick up pieces of coal to bring home.

We used to get long coal car trains coming through town (here in GA) once a year on the CSX line. We don't see them much anymore.
Suddenly hearing John Prine...

Dave, it looks like a last curtain call for the yellow performers!
VERY nice photo!!!

Hey, speaking of movies..."When We Last Spoke" (???)
This 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville was in that movie.
All original..came out of somebody's "Pops" garage just like you see here.

Yeah, that was in Alabama. He would get a load of coal and then sell it to those who needed it. Worked years in the coal mines (as did most of my family) before buying the trucks and starting to deliver. Would also buy old houses, tear them down, and sell the lumber. I helped with that sometime, or helped as much as a 6 or 7 year old could. Smile My dad also was a coal miner after he got out of the Navy. It was a hard life.

Cherry Caddy there. Old Car City has the last car purchased by Elvis which I think is a Caddy as well. I don't think he ever took delivery of it. They keep that one inside, not out with all the junk cars. I've probably got a photo of it somewhere. And yeah, it's not a car I would want. Now if it was a '57 Chevy or some such, I would take that.
