Tonight I worked on another LIGHT PAINTING PHOTO PROJECT.
I mentioned yesterday, that my friend gave me a special gift when she saw me on Wednesday. It was a carton of eggs. You may think that this is an unusual gift to give someone but her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend has some chickens and that they are now laying eggs. The boyfriend lives north of the big cities around here and has some land where he has a chicken coup and a fenced-in area for the chickens to roam. So, when I opened the gift and saw the egg carton, I was pleasantly surprised to see that she gave me some TRUE FREE RANGE CHICKEN EGGS.
However, I wish you could have seen the look on my face when I opened the carton. The eggs appeared that they were dyed in pastel colors but that was not the case. All of these beautifully colored eggs are exactly the natural colors of the eggs. Later when I showed my DH, he didn't believe it. We are familiar with brown eggs, but not pink, pale yellow or teal.
So, see why I was so excited to photograph them?
I am going to feel bad when I decide to cook them, but I bet they will taste really good.
Have a good start to your weekend and I hope it turns out EGGACTLY as you have it planned.

Thanks for starting the Daily, Lorell.
That's a gorgeous still life; the quality of the light and the variety of values is top-notch, thanks to your skill and artistic judgement at painting with light.
You wrote that you'll feel bad when you cook them. But it looks like one egg (front row, far left) has already been cracked. That's not meant as a criticism of the image - few would notice it, and I think it adds a little something to the photo.
Sorry but I have no photos to post. It's been a busy, and frustrating few days:
1) I've been trying since Monday to help my wife make a contribution to her SEP IRA retirement plan, by transferring money from my bank account to her retirement account. I've talked to both the bank (Wells Fargo) and the investment company (Fidelity) several times and gotten different info from both, depending on how experienced the customer service reps were. Fidelity detailed exactly how I need to make the transfer, but the Wells Fargo says they can't do it that way. So today I'll go to the bank and get a cashiers check payable to Fidelity. then we have to drive to a local Fidelity office to give them the check and make sure they apply it to the right investment account.
2) It was brutally hot here yesterday, with new records set all over the area from the mountains to the beaches. My thermometer (in the shade just outside my front door) reached 95 F (35 C), and they're saying today could be even hotter.
3) Doing more gardening labor (digging up sections of the yard to remove unwanted invaders, breaking down the soil, and mixing in garden soil and amendments) has left with me a very sore back.
Still, I wake each day on the right side of the grass, sometimes seeing a beautiful sunrise, other times enjoying a pleasant walk in cool early morning fog, often delighted to hear the birds singing joyfully as if they're gratefully greeting the new day.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Lorell, eggcellent!! Love your vignette!! You did a great job with the light painting. The process gives the image such a special effect, I love it, but am too lazy to do it!! My daughter has raised 10 chickens from baby chicks she got through the mail. She gets dark brown, two types of light brown and a bluish one! Now I have to find her a yellow one and a pink one ? do they have pink? Peter should know....!! It's fun to see the colors, and the yolks should be deep yellow!! Crack them open and enjoy!! Oh, and I do not see a crack on either egg.....I blew the image up way big, no crack. Hmmmmm....wonder what Dave saw?
Hi, Dave.....so sorry you've had some frustrations....life is that way, and harder for us to deal with the older we get. Yikes, that IS hot! And we are still in the 30's at night and upper 40's daytime.....waiting for spring, just hope it doesn't leap into summer!!
I have no images to share today, either....spent all day yesterday cleaning and them cooking dinner for my son and his daughter. She was bringing her boyfriend over. First time I have met him! They requested home made pizza. I also made brownies. Easy dinner for me....It all worked out well.....he's a very nice boy....a senior (she is a junior) and hopes to go to medical school. It's going to be a tough road, he's not from a wealthy family, his mom is a nurse, separated from his father.....I hope he gets some scholarships!!
Have a great Friday, everyone! I need to cut grass but my lawn mower leaking oil, got my nephew coming when he finds time to look at it. He's a mechanic for John Deere, and super busy with all the farmers right now....
Oh, I can post a snap I made of the other shoe stretchers my brother has collected.....he just thinks their neat looking....The holes in certain areas are for keys that turn gears that lengthen or widen certain areas so the leather shoes get stretched.
Lorell, Well done. My small laptop does not do it justice. I am afraid it won't show the cracked egg that Dave can see, but the colour and composition is very much appreciated. Love the set up too!
This is an old image I shared on that other site. It is a Infrared pano made with my scan back. It is a false colour IR but suits the image. What appears to be snow on the mountain is where light hit the trees through the clouds.
It prints 100 inches x16 inches. It won't show detail here so I made a small crop where you can see a man at the top of the stairs going into a building. See if you can see the building in the pano.
Morning Natalie, You posted while I was composing. See! You just admitted it. I knew you could cook!
Lorell - that's a dandy light painting and good story of the eggs.
Dave - not as hot here up on the north coast but had 76 at the house for a season high but cooler and rainy weather back upon us today. Doing garden work too now but going much slower and little at a time. Most tomatoes are up and running.
Natalie - that pizza sounds good and with brownies for dessert. I'm sure he'll be impressed. I just got the lawn mowed before it got wet again.
Grant - nice fishing port shots. Looks so much like home here.
I'll have to work harder on doing some photography.
Thanks all for the much appreciated feedback. I know exactly what Dave is talking about and it is an optical illusion the looks like the ORANGE egg has a small crack in it at the top. It is created by the frame of the wooden box. I am wondering if I should maybe crop that out since, I also think that it ruins the smooth look of that particular egg.
Grant, I cannot believe that you captured that amount of detail. Heck, not only is there a person at the top of the stairs, but there is a gal at the bottom and an older lady (maybe) midway up the stairs. You can even make out the sign over head. Not sure about the first word, but the last three are: Bay Fisherman's Wharf. Yes, I did use your closeup to see these details but found this structure in the pano shot. Do I get a prize?
Dave, I am sorry to hear about your back. That is why people our age start hiring folks to do that kind of manual labor for us. The trouble is not only cost for those that can afford it, it is finding someone to do it, right? I have good days and bad days and lately,.....oh never mind. You know what I was going to say.
Natalie, Homemade pizza, sounds delicious. Okay, are you ready for this? I made homemade pizza on Tuesday. And after dinner I was sitting around craving desert. Guess what I made? BROWNIES! As God is my witness, I had pizza and brownies on Tuesday. So, I guess your daughter might sort of like this guy since she brought him home to meet her mom. Remember when the men would bring something for the mother like a box of candy or flowers? Did he bring a bottle of wine maybe for the three of you? I hope my son has used that old but still point earning practice. I think it is a nice gesture and doesn't hurt in trying to make a good impression.
Natalie, you continue to capture great shots using your cell. This is an interesting subject, which starts with the four words, "back in the day...".
Back in the day, instead of throwing away a pair of shoes that didn't fit right, you would use these to stretch the shoes out to fit YOUR FEET. Not all feet are the same size and shape and not all shoes are the same size and shape. So shoe stretchers could be used to reshape the foot apparel to accommodate irregularities like bunions and wide feet. From what I just read, shoe stretchers are becoming more popular. What I like about your brother's collection is that those all look handmade. My husband still uses cedar shoe stretchers in his expensive shoes that sit in the closet and seem to shrink when he does not use them. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Grant, Steve and Lorell! Lorell, It was my grand daughter bringing her boyfriend, not my daughter! We played Uno after dinner. I think I like her choice of friends!! Nice summary of shoe stretchers, too!
About the egg, I did not think that it was cracked, but I did see the chunk blocked by the box. I probably would have cloned it out....
Grant, I, too, see the building....Pretty cool pano shot. I believe it says Cowichan Bay??
Lorell, we are in def in sync! and I had no leftovers at my house, they all left with them......
Thank you Folks,
That Sensor is 216 megapixel for a single shot and 5x that in pano mode. It does have resolution.
It could not be a stitched image as not much would line up properly. Boats eould move up and down....
The camera lens and and other equipment must be used with great skill to reap the benefit.
BTW Lorell, the first word in the sign is Cowichan Bay. That is the village we lived in on Vancouver Island.
What kind of prize should you get?
Here is another I shared on that other site. BTW both were shot at 1/2 res to keep motion artifacts to a minimum.
Also a detail to show what the capture is capable of.
