I like fire in the sky. I like.
However, these photos are of something down in the long grass that is more easily stepped on than sighting.
However, I go looking down there.

Thanks MFI.
That;s a lovely blossom (another variety of orchid I assume). Well spotted and well photographed.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

The orchid is Caladenia dilatata, Green Comb spider orchid.

Orchids are such interesting flowers. I can see why many people collect them. There is so much variety. I wonder what components are necessary for a plant to be considered an orchid. I know that I could research it, but it is really just a passing thought (question). I only ask this because when I go to the orchid shows sometimes I see plants that look nothing like the typical orchid.
Great images you two.
Sorry that I missed this.
I have been busy with annual medical appointments.

Well it all starts here:
Orchids are easily distinguished from other plants, as they share some very evident derived characteristics or synapomorphies. Among these are: bilateral symmetry of the flower (zygomorphism), many resupinate flowers, a nearly always highly modified petal (labellum), fused stamens and carpels, and extremely small seeds.
Wiki does go into it:

The yellow one I showed in the Yellow monthly, is now making seed/spore pods.
This image from wiki, describes the parts of an orchid flower, using a Caladenia alpina, which grows in the subalpine areas of SE Australia and NZ.
