Rainy days are becoming a favorite of mine because there's something special about how the quality of the light enriches colors. Here's an example: a shot of white Alyssiums and pine needles & cones that I took 5 days ago...

I liked the rich colors, the contrasts (values: the white blossoms vs the dark pine cones; the fragility of the blossoms & needles vs the solidity of the cones.)

I had quite a health scare starting 3 days ago; ended up in the ER of a local hospital for about 5 hours while they did an ECG and took blood to run lots of analyses & tests. But it ended well with them telling me that the results of the ECG indicated that my heart health is that of someone decades younger.

That's good news of course and quite a relief, but the experience was unsettling.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, glad all the heart tests came out good. As much as you walk and the distance you go is sure good for the heart. Scary for sure!

Yes rainy day photos have good colors and softness too, good one!

Here is a rainy day car show photo. Three story building in the BG is one of, if not thee oldest Bank building in town. Two blocks North of the train depot. Probably built in the late 1800's. Not a bank anymore. Owned by a real estate developer.

Thank you Rich.

Really nice photo of the cars.

Yes, my recent health scare was alarming, and maybe I over reacted. But better safe than sorry I guess.

As they say so many times, "It was probably gas".
Now, I am not making light of your situation.  It had to feel like the real thing or you would not have gone to ER.
But I am glad that everything is all good, you have to be relieved.  Now stop eating those hot peppers!
ANd I agree, the rain and overcast days makes the colors richer, shadows deeper.  It is a plus plus for your exposure and colors.  Well done.

Rich, I like the bright primary colors of these cars and the "older town" look in the background. It appears that you had a nice overcast day after a bit of rain that came through.  The overcast sure helps to get decent shots of these shiny cars.

I changed one of the photos for my Thursday's club meeting to the one below.  I was going to put the 1948 Chrysler collage (I posted in the weekender thread) as my VB, very best, for the month, but I think this one is more of an eye-catcher.  I hope to get some OOOOOhs and AHHHHHHs for this one.  Let me know what you think.  I grabbed this carousel shot at Stahl's Automotive.  I think this is the first time I saw this pretty merry-go-round on the museum floor.

Hi Lorell.

Give up hot peppers? Not gonna happen.

I've already managed to live longer than both of my parents so I consider whatever time I have left as a bonus, a gift. I'll gladly trade the years I have left for fewer but more enjoyable ones.

Your carousel photo is so good for the same reasons as most of your photos -- exposure, values, sharpness, etc. All top notch.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Lorell! That is an amazing carousel! They did it right back in the day. Beautiful! Well exposed and presented! I am impressed with the wooden base. Looks like Oak. I did like the Chrysler though!
