In browsing through my photo archives I came across a shot taken 2014-01-22 of our last dog, Pippin. I never did anything with the photo until processing it yesterday...
When I wrote "our last dog" I didn't mean we'd never get another. My wife has been speaking with a private family with a Westie expecting to deliver her litter any time. (Or maybe already did it - I'll have to ask my wife.)
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, OMG, I am so excited for you and your wife.
I cannot believe you have been WAD, without a dog, for TEN years. Really?
I miss our Ella so much. It has only been 4 months for us, but DH and I keep catching ourselves shedding a tear to two when we come across things that bring remind us of her. Like last night, I was making popcorn. Ella's vocab was so extensive. I would ask her if she wanted popcorn and she would follow me into the kitchen and stand next to me why I used this antique popper to make the most delicious popcorn ever. Well, she thought that. No microwave popcorn for her. And she only wanted to eat it if it was buttered. Yes, she was spoiled.
A puppy, Dave, even more exciting! Do you wish to pick out a boy or girl. I think you only have had boys, correct? I cannot wait to see photos.
Well, speaking of spoiled. Here is my daughter's cat, RUBY. She has her own window seat with her own RUBY RED quilt on it. When she is not on guard for varmints, her little stuffed animal friend is.
Lorell, my photo of Pippin was taken back in 2014, but he was with us for about 8 more years. So we've been WAD for around 2 years, not 10.
I've thought of your Ella many times, remembering her from having seen your photos and read your stories of her. She was indeed special.
Our first dog was Guinness, a large male Westie. Then my wife adopted Hazel from a shelter; those two shared our home together for years. We were WAD for just under a year until my wife (who had been checking SoCal shelters for another Westie) came across Pippin, and we had him for around 7 years.
I don't know if my wife will have a choice as to gender; I guess it depends on the size of the litter and where we fall on the list (first choice, last, or in the moddle).
I've been considering names, and if we get a male I like the name Angus, Gus for short. Haven't yet come up with a female name.
Your fine photo (you do well with indoor scenes illuminated by outside light) captures one aspect of felines well. Spoiled? I'd say so.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thank you, Dave.
I would like to have another pet, especially a dog. But I am having some serious trouble with arthritis in my hips and struggle to walk right now. It would be unfair to the dog if I could not walk it. I have not been attending any photo field trips for several months now because of the pain. I have an appointment scheduled with a hip surgeon on September 19. I sure hope he approves a hip replacement for me.

Dave and Lorell, wonderful photos and memories. They both will last forever!
Lorell, I had total hip replacement in June of 2023. No hip pain since. I was about 75% recovered in 6 months and I feel about 100 % recovered today. I hope you do it. Pain is no fun!
