Good morning and welcome to hump day.

This morning we will be taking DS auto to have the automatic transmission essentially rebuilt. $$$. Having to replace the clutch assembly. So I will probably be taking him to work and back for the next few days.

A few more from the Texas trip.

A  Whooping Crane with a tasty crab, a red bloom, and three Brown Pelicans.

Really nice work Don.

About the Whooping Crane - you were in the right place at the right time, and nailed the photo.

The red bloom: red vs near complement yellow=green and soft & rounded vs hard-edged & prickly. Nice contr asts.

Brown Pelicans ( displaying their striking breeding plumage ) - a very nice grouping.

The subtle shadows you added inside the simulated frames is a nice touch.

Here's an oldie - maybe 20 or more years ago. It's a short post with what looks like creosote (maybe as a preservative measure?) taken at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Don,
All 3 are inspiring. The family of Brown Pelicans almost looks like a posed portrait. You either were lucky or got them to cooperate.
Dave, I am a sucker for nature found abstracts.
Rich I was playing with pseudo solarization. Much easier in Photoshop curves than in the darkroom.

Don, three impressive shots!  Not easy to catch a bird with it's prey!! My favorite is the pelican trio....amazing detail!  Love the colors.
Dave, that is a great abstract, love the color!  Lots of texture. Well done.
Grant, another interesting solarized shot!

I hope these guys have a designated captain onboard!!

Don, you really nailed the Crane shot....WoW! All the right things came together. The old saying "The more I practice the luckier I get!" Might apply here!

To make the rose? a dynamite shot, I would clone out the brown dead foliage.

Pelicans....perfect! The Three Amigos!

Dave, a very striking image with the contrasting colors working in harmony! Luv it!

Grant, beautiful! I remember those darkroom experiments try to produce solarization. Lots of paper in the trash! PS MUCH easier!

Natalie, you are so right The Captain on the aircraft carrier I was on would not allow that. I was a certified helmsman and steered the ship for an hour on each watch I had.

Awesome collection of images today. Fun!
