Well, the weather is set to really change here. It has been so nice for the past couple of weeks, but colder weather is on the way. Forecast 38F tonight and 34F tomorrow night. I'm glad that I have already winterized the camper. But of course, it being Georgia, it is warming back up later on the 70's in the day and mid 50's at night.
Today's task is to get a new phone. My current phone is pretty old and showing its age. I went by Verizon twice yesterday but the wait was so long that I left both times. Plan is to go to a different, smaller Verizon store today to see if I can get someone to help without waiting 30 or 40 minutes. But, I plan to stay as long as it takes and walk out with a new phone. The camera on the model I am going to get is supposed to be awesome, as well as the video capability. We the trips coming up I am sure I will be using it a lot in addition to my bigger cameras.
Again, nothing new photo wise, but here is a B&W from my archives. I think this was taken at Old Car City. Almost abstract.

Don, It sounds like you are getting the new model 15. Yes, the phone is suppose to be excellent according to the ads on TV. Hopefully you will get a heck of a deal. Some providers are giving it away for FREE, but I think the small print says that you have you have to sign a contract that you will subscribe to their service for a certain length of time. I am sure you will be pleased. It might be even worth your while to buy some of the cool photo apps that go with these cameras. One of our members has been sharing all of the amazing stuff that these apps can do. For special effects, it is the way to go.
Regarding your photograph. I am not sure what I am looking at. Is it a stick shift from a tractor maybe? A variety of shapes and shadows make for an interesting composition.
Speaking of special effects, I took a photo of my skeleton that is clutching a lamppost on the corner of our lawn next to the driveway. I got my tripod and flashlights out and made a light painting of it. I posted it on FLICKR for the Smile on Saturday challenge. This morning I ran it through TOPAZ and jazzed it up a bit. I like this version more than the one I posted on FLICKR this past weekend.
Hope you have fun on this first of the fourth quarter (of the year) series.
Happy Halloweeeeeeeeeen!

Hey Lorell, nice job on the spooky photo. It is 20 until 5 here and it won't be long until the trick or treaters start. We are having hot dogs for dinner, which these days we seldom do as we try to eat healthier in our old age, but in the interest of time that is what we are doing. DW loves to give out candy, but for me not so much. Not a big fan of Halloween.
That photo is a gear shifter on a bus (I think). But yeah, a gear shifter for sure.
The phone I got is a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra since I am an Android guy and not an Apple guy. Although I have had to learn about iPhones since DW has one. Finally got everything moved from the old phone (Galaxy S10e) to the new phone, and ordered a charger (didn't come with one) and a case. That should arrive Thursday. DW said as much as we paid for the phone it should have come with a charger - I agree. The old chargers will work but the new charger is a "rapid" charger, so that is good. Supposed to charge to 100% within an hour. And the battery life is supposed to be much improved.
Wonder where Dave and Peter are? And how Rich is doing on his trip.

I'm never far away.
Did a bit of sweeping on my brick paving last evening.
Walked out this morning, found this on the path. It brightened up my day until I had the thought. If I dropped this one several years ago, did I drop others?

Lorrel, it is an interesting tale that you've somehow scented or sensed.
I've got a small amount of native plant propagation at my kitchen door. Have had it there now for about three years. Previously way down the back yard. Anyhow, I had done some reorganising boxes of plants and sweeping the evening before and first thing the next morning I stepped out the door and immediately said to myself, that looks like a piece of opal potch. I have a lot of that laying about.
When I picked it up and held it in the light, it knocked my socks off.
WTH is that doing there? It shouldn't be lying on the brick pavers!
It should have been in a jar with the rest of that grade of opal.
You know, like this jar.
How it managed to survive years of risk of being walked on, is beyond ken.
So yes, the opal fairy was indeed here overnight.
It should cut 10mm x 10mm stone. I mean it is all full colour crystal opal. There is nothing to cut off and shaping the stone will only waste valuable opal.
