Happy Hump Day everyone.

Rain here overnight and still raining; should clear up in a few hours then start again around 9:00 PM and continue through late morning tomorrow. I got a bit soaked on my morning walk today.

I like the soft greens and sharp whites in this photo. And the yellow is lovely. But realizing that the yellow may steal attention from my intended COI, I did a version that de-saturated the yellow shape.

1) full intensity yellow version...

2) de-saturated yellow version...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Yes, I like the desaturated YELLOW one more. Good job of critiquing your own work.

I picked the image below for several reasons.

1.  Our photo club is attending the annual Metro Detroit Orchid Show this Sunday and so it was time to revisit my photos from last year and think of ideas on how to challenge myself to photograph something different at this year's show.

2. I wanted something with color in the background and see high I would handle it.  In my case, I wanted a portion of the purple orchids to be illuminated in the background because I didn't think the subject, that being the statue , was interesting enough to hold one's attention and I wanted the viewer's eye to roam around the entire composition and the two items shared the stage (the flower and STATUE).

and
3. I wanted to challenge myself using Topaz to see what I needed to do in order to improve the quality of this image since I never thought it was good enough to share.

Your reactions are always welcomed and appreciated.

Good Day All!
Made it back from my hip appt. Doctor and staff were awesome. Unfortunately I have a long wait (3 Months) before he can fix it due to cortisone shot. The pool is supposed to open Monday so I hope that will help when I get back to swimming.

Dave, your soggy weather lately has translated into 3 inches of snow on Thursday and 3 inches on Friday for us!
Oh Happy Days! Still too cold for rain!

The desatured one is better but I feel that if you made the yellow orb the color of the others in the BG it would smack dab your eye right to the sweet spot!

Lorell,
I think if the rest of the statue was in sharp focus my eyes wouldn't wander, which is what you wanted, so that is a plus. They MIGHT be a little to overpowering but that is your call. Have fun at the show. So many neat photo ops in a big city!

Lorell, that shot could also have gone in the March monthly challenge?
Dave, I agree with Rich on the desaturation.

I'm always lurkiing watching.

Because, here be dragons.
