Good Day All.
Today I get to take our family from California to Stahl's Automotive Museum.  You all know how much I love that place, so I am all geeked about this trip.  My nephew loves cars and when he graduated from high school he got a job as a welder.  He is already making good money and loves his job.  He is already dabbling in the artistic side of welding and hopes that one day he can sell his artwork.  But in the meantime, she works for a company that does specialized projects for their customers and his boss just loves him.  All of his training was done in high school through their curriculum.

Patty, to answer your question about yesterday's image.  The curved structure on the right is rails for a people mover.  I am not sure about he structure on the left, I am thinking it is a walkway overpass.  I am sharing that photo with the club on Thursday and will ask them, they should know.

So, here is another FISH EYE compositon.
It is from the inside of the REN CEN's Atrium.  The Ren Cen is now GM headquarters. I like how you can see the towers of the REN CEN through the glass above.  Wow, what a design, huh?

Have a terrific Tuesday,
LORELL

Nice, Lorell.

Love the colors, excellent focus and values, and somehow you made a symmetric and centralized composition burst with energy.

Palm trees in Detroit?

What part of California are your relatives from?

A few of my stunted sunflowers have produced blossoms (which last for only a few days).

Here is one; I like the colors in this image (the combination of bur orange and green is one I find quite striking), just wish the blossom was more pristine...

Good day to those who visit later.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Relatives are from Northern CA, in LINCOLN.

I really like the soft pale colors in the background, Dave, as well as the placement of the lower in the composition.  The shades of the background contrast and agree with the flower and leaves respectively.   It certainly agrees with the color theme.

I was looking at the palm trees and they are about to touch the top of the atrium.  I wonder what they will do once they reach the top.

Wow Lorell! That is truly an awesome photo!
The curve and symmetry work well together and so does the color inside.
Those palms are amazing!
That was a VERY worthwhile trip out!
Yes, I think the covered bridge is probably a pedestrian way.
That would be the only reason for it being enclosed.

I managed a few long shots from the shoreline.
I could sit there all day and watch boats go by.
I like taking photos of them too.
It would be even better to be out there in one!
Sunday, as we were driving around the lake area, we saw two
vintage ChrisCraft run-abouts being trailered to the lake.

This was a long shot..cropped in too.

Oh Hi Dave!
I didn't see your post because I left my browser open and the page didnt refresh!
I really like the color of your sunflower!
Orange and green always look good together!
Nice photo!

Lorell, sounds like you have a great day lined up! Good for you!
Congrats on your nephews learning and lovin' the welding field. We had the same program at the Tech College I taught. Taking welding as a HS course put them on the fast track to a good job! Awesome that he is thinking of doing art as a sideline! Wonder where he got that idea from????

WoW! Cool! Someone with a balance problem might have a little difficulty! A perfect scene for a fish eye!

Dave, a very strickling image. The shallow DOF is wonderful! Orange and green look good together in nature, not so much in a 1960 early 70 orange couch and green carpet!.

Patty, nice speed boat capture! Fast shutter speed. I don't see any evidence of panning. Fun times! Would be a lot of fun in the Chris Craft with a nice throaty rumble! My Uncle in Minnesota had one before they became a classic....a long time ago! Had a couple of rides in it.

Went to the way back machine 2002 for this post.

Almost noon here and I finished mounting and framing a canvas print I did for someone. Then picked a mess of string beans which I'll process later. Tomatoes are ripe and I probably will eat some and sauce others. I went to check my huckleberries yesterday and only got about 2/3 quart. Bad year for them but I'll add some of our yard blackberries to make enough for a pie.
Lorell, the fish eye works perfectly for that shot. Love it.
Dave, that is a cool sunflower. A bit different from others I've seen. We had visitors from Nebraska yesterday and he told me of the sunflower fields he had at home.
Patty, a lake is a good place to be. Good motion shot.
Rich, my daughter went to Coast Guard boot camp with a girl from Door County, Wisconsin. Very neat lighthouse.

Rich,
Your lighthouse photos are gorgeous!
#1 would make a very nice painting!
(Go for it!)

I have a photo of my dads brother sitting in a ChrisCraft. It was probably
my dads boat or he worked on it for someone else. My dad was a boat man.
He built his first boat when he was 16 and lived most of his life around them.

Shutter speed was 1/450”

Hi Quint!
Sounds like you are enjoying your garden stuff. That’s great!
I hope to do better next year.
