TGIF, everyone.

A yellow rose (my favorite color for a rose) taken on yesterday morning's walk...

The usual marine layer this time of year (called May gray here in SoCal) produced nice diffuse light that seemed to heighten the colors of the local flore.

I hope we all have a great weekend.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, an excellent photo, a day brightener for sure!

I hate to mess up your dy-no-mite photo with my junk but I thought this was pretty funny.
Photo one is what I saw out my balcony door this morning. Looked like a bird sitting in the reeds. Grabbed my camera and zoomed to 960 MM and was disappointed....photo two.

Rich, that has happened to me several times.  It looks like a rare bird to me!

Hi Dave, That a good one.  The background adds an interesting and unusual pattern to the composition.  I like it.

Well, I have been doing NO photography lately.  So, I have had nothing to share.  Last night was my monthly photo Club gathering.  We are now up to 35 members, OH MY!  And we are getting some talented shutter buggers too!

The challenge for this month was HDR.  I was surprised that several photographers knew nothing about HDR captures and had to be informed of the process.  Since I am a procrastinator, I ran out on Wednesday morning to the cemetery to grab several shots with different exposures to use PHOTOMATRIX to create the composition below. We were not supposed to cheat and just use one photo and change the exposure in POST to create an HDR image.  The image was well received last night even though it was not real sharp.  The three shots used to create the shot were hand-held. I have three other images from the meeting that I will share next week.

I know that you have seen this statue before, but I was pleased with this HDR version and did not want to show up empty handed.

My daughter and I are going up to the trailer for the weekend.  We are excited to go to a BIG Annual Mid-Michigan Flea Market and Amish Quilt Auction on Saturday.  The event started this morning.  It should be fun to do. I hope to grab some photos but unfortunately will not be able to take photos of the Amish since the sect in our area has requested that we do not take photos of them.  I  will only be taking my phone into the event because I feel the camera would look too threatening to the participants.

Lorell, Good to see you posting! WoW, 35 members! Good to hear!
A very powerful image! Well done! Good HDR demo.

I had forgotten about the HDR image. I have HDR merge on my Photoshop elements for 2 to 10 photos. If I remember right a tripod is a must use. I think I will play around with a night shot of the Palace some nice evening.

Flea Market sounds fun! Good idea not to bring camera. Get some good shots with the phone and post a few.

Thanks for the comment!

Is it a bird, is it a model plane? No it is a super broomstick. I got a chuckle from your photo, Rich. Smile

Lorell, I'd like to know more about this paricular statue. I do like the way you have presented it. Now I feel that I'd like to know more about the history behind it.

Dave: The background in your rose shot accentuates the softer yellows pleasantly.
Happiness simply is.
There need be no pursuit.

Hi Rich, and thanks.

I have been similarly fooled a number of times. But the advantage of shooting digital is that one can take 100s of photos, maybe get  just one keeper, and you haven't spent a penny on film and developing.

Hey there, Lorell. Good to "see" you again.

Thanks for your comment on my yellow rose. The background you noted is actual the walk leading to their front door, which is made of bricks that are mostly reddish, but for some reason the ambient light made them more blue and violet - not a bad look with the complementary yellow.

I don't remember seeing that statue before, but I like your HDR version: composition, values, a variety of textures, and colors are all good.

Safe travels, and enjoy the flea market and auction.

Thanks, MFI. The background wasn't planned; in the words of Bob Ross, it was a happy accident.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Peter, glad you got a chuckle!

Thanks Dave!

Dave, the BG shadows are interesting as is the violet color produced in your photo. Yes, I agree, I have many Happy Accidents in my watercolor journey.
