Tuesday/Wednesday greetings all!

Here are a couple of scenes from the grounds of Dollywood Resort in Pigeon Forge TN.

My room had bunk beds for the kiddos!

Question, what size do you make your photos to post on Flickr and are you concerned about theft?

Thanks for starting the Daily, Rich. Nice photos. Ah, bunk beds - brings back memories. Some when I was just a kid and then from living at the frat house in college.

Good questions about uploading images to Flickr; I struggled over the same concerns and eventually settled on this:

Regarding image size:
- for landscape orientation, 1000 to 1300 px wide (usually 1000) at 72 ppi
- for portrait a max of 900 px high at 72 ppi
- for square, usually 900 px at 72 ppi
I think these constraints provide a good balance between image quality and security concerns.

Regarding theft:
- Back in the WetCanvas days, one member took took some of my images and altered them, passing them off as his own work. So yes, I try hard to protect my images on Flickr.
- First, by limiting the size in pixels and the ppi, I render my Flickr images pretty much useless if someone wants to make prints of my work to sell.
- Second, I add a subtle signature in a corner of every image I put on Flickr. This isn't hard to get around, bu at least it's something.
- Finally, in my Flickr account settings I chose the option that bars anyone from downloading my Flickr images.

I'm still going through my archives to find photos to add to Flickr (I'm up to 3rd quarter of 2021, so I have a long way to go).

Here's one I rediscovered from 2021...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, I remember that photo! A poignant reminder of the last gasp of summer!

Thanks for the info. I ticked the no download on my account, then went to see if I could download one of your photos....and I did.I wonder if that option is working? Anyway, with your sizing I don't think the quality is there for a salable photo.

How would one know if images were stolen?
I did find one of my images in the wrong place with the wrong description and without my permission for use.
It was purported to be an educational site but I deemed that wrong information and description didn't sound educational.
I contacted the site owner and pointed these things out and he simply removed the image and commentary though I had given permission if he would change the commentary.

Well, I guess I never was concerned about someone stealing my images. They are posted with the longest size being 2048 pixels. I know that is big. That is the size we used for our club meeting's show and am too lazy too lazy to alter them all before I upload them to FLICKR.

Rich, that is sure a nice-looking and cozy room you had at Dolly's resort. Was the resort fun to visit?

Dave, I do not remember that photo of the perfectly IN FOCU leave. Wow, that is really good.

I think I better go add some of my photos to FLICKR from our club meeting a week ago.

This is Thanksgiving WEEK. All week I will be busy shopping, cleaning, prepping and cooking. I have been at my son's house the last two days, deep cleaning the premises of his bachelor's pad. He really keeps it clean, but I was trying to get it extra clean. It is different for guys, you know?

So, tomorrow I start cooking sweet potato casserole, Pecan Slab pie and mixing up the ingredients for the stuffing. The turkey will get a bath as well as a good salting. That should take several hours. I work slow.

Till tomorrow,
LORELL

Are you implying that us blokes are never clean enough? Wink

Well you'd be correct in my case.
