Memorial Day here in the US. If you see service members, shake hands and thank them for their sacrifices and service.

Still no new photos, so I retrieved one from June 2021 and set myself a challenge: could I come up with an image that had very vivid colors in the background and still make the COI grab the eye?

I ran the base image through various artistic adjustments in FotoSketcher, selected one, and came up with this...

I think the bright white of the flowers looking sharp against the soft background makes them stand out pretty well. Did I achieve my goal? I 'd give myself a B+ on that.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

A big thank you to the men and women who gave their lives for our country.
God Bless you and your family for the sacrifice you made for us.

Hey, Dave,  I can follow your lead with a fancied-up photo of my own.
I love all that color in your background.  It looks like watermelon back there, Red fruit with Green RIND, and even a few seeds here in there too. You did an excellent job of bringing that to life.

I like to think that I did the same for my lighthouse photo.  I have already shared a picture of the lighthouse but not one from this view with the big red house in the background.  I used TWO pieces of software to enhance the original and played around with it until I got something I liked.

Once again, this is the FORT GRATIOT LIGHTHOUSE in Port Huron, Michigan.
I think the red in both of our photos is an eye-catcher.

All very painterly photos today. Smile
Well done both.

I took this shot and decided it may look interesting in greyscale.

It is actually eroded dirt. I believe the holes were dug by the rainbow bee eater. There are some good pictures several pages and an interesting description plus the sounds they make.

Hi Lorell, and thanks.

I really like your image: strong composition as always, the sky ranging from white-gray to blue works very  well, the muted greens are lovely, and the strong red adds a POP that is pushed to the limit but not overpowering. Nice texture effect too.

Thank you MFI. Interesting images of the work of the bee eater. I thought that your photos were of the Rainbow Bee Eater's digging - not sure why I knew that. It's a beautiful bird, isn't it?

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
