Well, here is the winter storms progression. Have not heard a total so far but thinking about 10 inches, we may get up to 18 inches. The city is shut down as is I-90 on the east part of the state. South Dakota is basically cut in half by the Missouri River. We call it east river and west river for location.
First up is Monday morning, then mid-afternoon and the last one is this morning.
Thanks Rich. The conditions you captured in your photos are why we moved to California. We visited my wife's parents in San Diego for Christmas of 1974 or 1975 and because we spent the entire week in shorts I was sold. We moved there in early 1976 and our eldest (daughter Lisa) was born there in April.
Funny story about that vacation: One day we went to the beach and I waded out to about waist high depth. This was shortly after we saw the move Jaws. When a piece of seaweed wrapped around my legs I was sure I was gonna die right then and there.
Thanks Grant.
I neglected to post in a recent Daily how much I liked your photos; one was of coaxing color out of a winterscape, and one or two others struck me as exceptionally delicate and fine jobs of capturing winter's beauty.
Light on-and-off rain here today and it'll probably continue until Friday. Further north, the "atmospheric river" (a narrow band of fairly strong winds starting in California and continuing across the country) is expected to drop a lot of winter precipitation as it heads eastward. Rich and Lorell, it looks like the worst of that may be south of you - I hope so.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, your flower makes me think of the song, "Yellow Rose A Texas". Another pretty capture.
Rich, when I first opened the thread, and saw image #1, I thought, well, that doesn't look so bad and then I started to read your post and then scroll down. Wow, that looks miserable. You have a lot on your deck too. It is practically a whiteout!
I am going stir-crazy over here and was thinking about a trip to the car museum. But, I changed my mind and did housework instead. I took the Christmas tree down and some laundry. Now I think I will work on my sewing. Got to keep busy.
I thought it was time for a little artsy conversion post. This is a combination of Deep Dream Generator AND TOPAZ STUDIO. Do not just on clarity though, just take a few steps back and hopefully enjoy.
Dave, yes, fun in the sun. I guess I like the four seasons, well maybe three. As a joke...we have four seasons in SD, almost winter, winter, still winter and construction!
Funny story! I would have been jumpy too!
I hope the "river" will miss us. Had ebough for a while.
Lorell, the Foto Friends pixel queen! WoW! Pretty darn awesome. Has a 3D look to it. The sepia tone is perfect for it. Very painterly! Well done!
We are in a pause stage with the snow. Nothing coming down but it will start again.
