Speaking of old. I was going through old boxes of watches from the shop which have been messing the place up ever since the shop closed. Kind of like winning ta small lottery. Not one but two 9ct gold Rolex wristwatches. Both from the 1920's

I'd say that was a super find in an old box....

It is more work for me is all. Now I have to fix them and clean them up and find a customer who wants to buy them. At least, I shouldn't leave them to my children unless they are in working condition. The problem will be sourcing parts. I see that the ladies watch needs a winding pinion. Probably either impossible to find or cost way more than it was ever worth if available. They are worth the effort because they do command premium prices from collectors. It is a lovely little movement.
Also in the box were a whole lot of other watches, including a silver pocket watch bearing the name of Thomas Gaunt, arguably the first watchmaker in Australia.

I am extremely jealous of these watches!
What a grill, rusted memories.
What's the new challenge?
