Good morning all. We made it back from our European trip in one piece, more or less. Both have bad colds (we hope that is all it is), and DW is suffering with a bad hip or back. Can hardly get around right now. The last couple of days were pretty rough on her but she pushed through like a trouper.

Still in the early stages of image processing, but I played with this one yesterday and applied some Topaz filters to create a sort of surrealistic image of a sunset in Budapest.

I have gone through most of the threads posted over the last month and appreciated all the great photos shared.

Hi Don.

I'm glad you folks made a safe return, but sorry about the colds and pains.

Nice bit of processing on the Budapest image. It kept reminding me of something and I finally realized it strikes me as a combination of Maunch's "The Scream" in composition, and with a hint of Cezanne's brushwork in the sky.

I've been going through the 360+ photos I took last Sunday while hiking through the Bolsa Chica Wetlands with another local photographer. Maybe 5% are postable (and I plan to add those to my FotoFriends Gallery, if that's OK. There may even be one or two worth printing and framing.

But for now here are two shots taken recently in my front yard.

1) A kinda softened look at a miscellaneous succulent...

2) Some reddish flower in the glory of the morning Golden Hour...

Has anyone heard from Lorell?

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Don Dave, great images
As we replaced our frosty windows, I will not get any new frost pictures.

Here is one from last year.

Nice images of the blooms, Dave. I especially like the succulent.  Frosty window indeed Grant. Interesting colors too.

It is a balmy 36F here this morning. I haven't been able to ride either bike since we returned from our trip. Took DW to a doc in a box yesterday, and turns out she has "walking Pneumonia". Prescribed some antibiotics and cough medicine, so hopefully she will begin to improve quickly. Still has the back issue but is trying to get an appointment with a PT to see if it is back or hip.

Another image I played with yesterday, with some selective color. Lady walking her dog - I think it may have been in Prague.

Anyone heard from Lorell?

Thanks Don. I agree that the succulent shot is better than the red flower - not enough value contrast to that one.

Very impressive selective color image.

Hi Grant, good to see you. And thanks.

This morning's sunrise was unusually blue - no gold at all except the hint that I added...

I updated my Flickr account with 12 of the photos I took last Sunday at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Ecological Preserve. Larger versions than we can post here can be seen there by clicking on the Flickr link in the signature at the bottom of my posts here, then finding my Flickr album titled Bolsa Chica Wetlands.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Doon, good to have you back Looking forward to your photos.

I like the sunset manip. Awesome shooting angle and DOF. The selective colored one is amazing! Red gets your attention. I did this back in the film days with special dyes.

Dave, I really like the first one. Very soft and calming. Good one for a Dr. office waiting room.
Ya gotta love the Golden hour! Your sunrise has the blues! Good one!

Grant, brrr it was frosty here today 17 F.
Focus on what brings you joy! ~Unknown~
