Another Western Fence Lizard, taken 2 days ago.

The tails usually make up more than half of the total body length; this one appears to be regrowing its tail.

When threatened by a predator or even when merely startled, these lizards can detach the tail, leaving it to twist and writhe. Meanwhile the lizard has a chance to scurry to safety.

Awesome photo and story Dave! The world is full of unusual critters!

Mural #1 is done! The sky is supposed to be blue but maybe the blue hybrid corn didn't make it.

There's blue hybrid corn?

RE: Wednesday October 30 2024 - Rich - 10-30-2024

Sure is! I have a personal friend who grew all the corb for the murals. He was good at it!
Just google blue corn.

Today I was reminded. Though I'd not have called it blue, knew of the various shades of corn.
CORN/MAIZE Blue Hopi There's nothing new about blue corn. In fact, it is among the earliest variants of corn to be used as a dietary staple.

Steely blue. or grey blue perhaps?

Rich, blue sky or not - that's impressive art!

Hi MFI. This talk about blue corn has me thinking about a nice side dish of corn (any colors) with Mexican Crema (like a pour-able and slightly tangy sour cream), crumbled blue cheese, diced bell peppers of different colors and some drops of hot sauce or sprinkled red pepper flakes, and finished with thinly sliced scallions.

Something close to a blue sky color Peter.

Thanks Dave, they have been doing this since the late 1800's!
