Monday 29th July - Dave - 07-29-2024 Well, I'm about 60% back, using my old computer which has stopped overheating since temps have cooled recently. But I still can't get the new PC to recognize my monitor. Anyway, here's a shot taken 3 weeks ago - one of the roses from late neighbor Ron that keeps surviving... I wish us all a good week. RE: Monday 29th July - Don - 07-29-2024 Nice color on the rose Dave. Did you purchase a new monitor with the new computer, or are you using the "old" monitor? From doing a bit of research, a bad cable is the most likely culprit. I also found this YT video with a few suggestions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GltCCHhRTvs Nothing more frustrating than to have a new piece of gear and it doesn't work like it should! RE: Monday 29th July - Dave - 07-29-2024 Thanks Don. No, I didn't buy a new monitor because I've been quite happy with the one I got a couple of years ago. It's a fairly wide BenQ monitor that has worked well with the old computer. I believe the problem is that this monitor uses a common type of HDMI cable but the new PC doesn't appear to have an HDMI "port" (or any other recognizable common monitor port) available. I'll check out the youtube link you provided. Thanks for that. But suspect that I may have just 2 bad options: 1) replace the expensive monitor, or; 2) return the new computer. RE: Monday 29th July - Man From Ironbark - 07-29-2024 There may be a device to connect the two? Not only is it a gorgeous rose, it is so wonderully captured. Here from my front garden is the bird I call the Mallee Ring-necked parrot or ringneck for short. They are like flying opals when the light catches them.
RE: Monday 29th July - Dave - 07-29-2024 Thanks MFI. Another case of being in the right place at the right time, then managing to not mess up the opportunity. Beautiful parrot, very well captured. Regarding my problems with monitor/PC connections, I think I'll take both the PC and monitor to a local electronics place that I've done business with and see if they can help. I would contact Dell but they are notorious for making it nearly impossible to contact every sort of customer service team. |
