Saturday & Sunday, May 25 & May 26 - Dave - 05-25-2024

Early in the week I resolved to return from a walk with a photo that was NOT overly dark, yet avoided the fault of blown-out whites....

Greetings Dave and all who follow.
I would say you have met your expectations! Beautiful! I like the yellow centers.

Here is Niagara Falls....Raw Power!

Two very fine photos, gentlemen.

Dave, You got a lot of texture in this petals fo the petunas.  They are nice, bright and cheerful. Your composition is somewhat triangular.  I like that effect.

Rich, Wow, what an awesome perspective. This a a grandiose shot.  A might powerful capture.

A toast to both of you guys and those who follow.

Thank you Lorell! It was amazing to be that close to it.

Cool processing on the wine. It looks like bottles from the prohibition years, especially the motorcycle babe!

Love the white and yellow flowers. Possibly one of the many Convolvulus

I'd love to stand next to Niagra falls and take pictures.

Wine eh. Smile

Nice shot of the bottles Lorell.

Thanks Rich. I too found the flowers' centers pleasing.

I like your photo: great job on the values (whites aren't blown out and darks have good detail), solid composition (the diagonal works very well), and if one of your goals was to capture the incredible power of the falls – you nailed it.

Thank you Lorell. It was good to create an image that was atypical for me.

You are very good at taking a photo of common objects and processing them in a style that makes the images special.

Thanks MFI.

I'm not sure if it's Convolvulus or a Petunia. Are they related?

I noticed the wine thing too – 90 proof wine is pretty potent stuff.

I forgot to mention that as of a couple of days ago, the hummingbird nest by our front door had two very tiny eggs, and the mother Anna's hummingbird has been an admirably dedicated mother-to-be. While incubating the eggs she constantly shifts her position and is always looking about - I presume to detect anything threatening. She makes frequent short trips away from the nest to consume calories to keep her energy reserves up to the demands of her extremely high metabolism.

Petunias split off at Order: Solanales
Family: Solanaceae

Convolulus at Order: Solanales
Family: Convolvulaceae

So very relatively closely related but not in the same family.
and on second thoughts, Petunias it is.
