Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Rich - 04-18-2024 Good day All! A beautiful blue sky day in Paradise today! A little chilly though. Continuing from yesterday's Ellis Island post, here is another photo from there. This, if memory serves me right, are items left behind or lost. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Luv2shoot - 04-18-2024 Hey, Rich. I love all of those cool trunks. I could see myself collecting them, if only I had a place to store them. Here is one from an Edison museum (as in Thomas Edison) located in Port Huron, Michigan. Hey Rich, I love all of the cool Trunks. I could see myself collecting those, of only I had a place to store them. Here is the top of an old suitcase probably from the same era. I love the sounds when you clicked the lock shut as well as hit the button/lever to flip the metal snap open. Those springs were wound tight! This was taken at a Thomas Edison Museum in Port Huron, Michigan. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Dave - 04-18-2024 Well spotted and nicely captured, Rich. Good composition and colors, and very good control of the light (which I think we all know can be troublesome with indoor shots). Good one from you too, Lorell. At first I thought the composition was too centered, but realized the diagonal mitigates that. All other aspects are top-notch. After 90 minutes of digging up weeds and other undesirables in the front yard I knew it was time to give my aching back a break. So I grabbed the camera and looked around for something to shoot. It was windy and I usually don't bother trying to shoot flowers in the wind but decided to give it a try, In the background is an ornamental grass (maybe some sort of feather grass) that moves in the slightest breeze, so I used manual focus, trying to select the poppies. I got lucky - in one of the many shots (thanks Burst Mode) they were reasonably sharp. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Luv2shoot - 04-19-2024 Here’s one picture where the background is as important as the subject. This is a wonderful image, Dave. I love the movement and composition. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Dave - 04-19-2024 Thank you Lorell. It was how nice the orange of the poppies looked amidst the various greens that caught my eye, but given the windy conditions I wasn't optimistic about my chances of getting a good photo. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Rich - 04-19-2024 Thanks Dave and Lorell! Lorell, love the diaganol composition. Much more interesting than a level shot! Park Ave address too! Dave, I agree with Lorell. The correct shutter speed. It would be interesting to try a few slow shutter speed to pick up some blur. Good composition and exposure. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Dave - 04-19-2024 Thanks Rich. I did consider a slower shutter speed for some blur in the background, but I figured that since the wind was also moving the poppies I thought that wouldn't work. I suppose I could try a Photoshop motion blur on the background. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Rich - 04-19-2024 Dave, I think you nailed it with what you did! The other would be play time for me! Here is a purple field somewhere in the Black Hills 2003. RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Adamphotoman - 04-19-2024 No blossoms here.Too early! RE: Thursday, April 18th, 2024 - Dreamin - 04-20-2024 Wow, Rich. Wonder what is in those trunks? Wonder what happened to the owners if they were left behind? Love the close up of the lock, Lorell.....great color.... Dave, what a great burst of color....the grasses give me a sense of movement....Nice one! I like your composition. Rich, I love meadows....around here if you don't cut the grass, it would grow up in trees, all sorts of trees and weeds. so I envy a place where wildflowers can grow freely!!I like how the purple is reflected into the sky. Grant, do you still get frost on the windows like that? Great colors!! |
