Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024 - Luv2shoot - 01-27-2024 Hey there. I have been busy going out with friends for lunch and packing. I took a ride to one of our camera club's members who announced at the last meeting that he was selling one of his camera bags. I needed something to carry all of my equipment on our trips, so I decided to check it out. I am very happy with my purchase. I should be able to get all of my equipment comfortably and safely packed into this backpack-style bag. He said that he only used it twice. That is probably why it looks brand new. Time to see how well this back pack works. I was cleaning up some files and came across this photo. Here's a little bit of grunge to start the weekend thread. Title: Master Grunge RE: Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024 - Rich - 01-27-2024 Lorell, good for you on finding a good camera bag! Nice spring type day here to day. Yes, a little grunge but well composed and exposed. Out of focus BG really brings the attention to the main subject. Here is one of our famous South Dakotans we are putting on the Palace, Billy Mills. He is the only American so far to win the 10,000 meter, 6.2 mile Olympic race. He did this in 1964. Billy Mills #1 The winner. #2 Billy Mills A native American from The Pine Ridge Reservation. #3 Getting the key to the City from Our Mayor. #4 The Mural of his winning portrait. RE: Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024 - Dave - 01-27-2024 Thanks for starting our Weekender, Lorell. Really well done photo. In addition to what Rich said, I'll add: 1) as always you created a faultless composition; 2) I like how the dark chain leads the eye to the COI; 3) the different grungy textures are very interesting. Hi Rich. I remember watching Billy Mills win the gold in those Olympics. Very nice of the city to honor him. And I am again impressed by the artistry of the Corn Palace murals. Our weather today couldn't be better; when I checked my thermometer a couple of hours ago it was 74 F (23 C) and out in the sun it'll probably reach 80 (27 C) in an hour or so. Can you guys stand another sunrise photo? Here's one from 3 days ago... RE: Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024 - Adamphotoman - 01-27-2024 Lorell, I agree with Rich and Dave. Well done! Rich, The Corn Palace is lucky to have you documenting for them. Dave, Keep them coming. RE: Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024 - Dave - 01-28-2024 Thanks Grant. At first this morning's sunrise showed promise of being spectacular. That didn't happen but this shot interested me because I'm wondering if there was some sort of early space launch... My thoughts on today's NFL games... KC at Baltimore - Baltimore favored by about 4.5 points ================================== I think it's gonna come down to two things: 1) with two of the best QBs in recent years, which one will play better; and 2) which defense is better. KC: The offense has had a down year, especially with passing. But they have won by a good running game a a very good defense. And KC QB Mahomes has a history of performing well in key games. Baltimore: They are very balanced - their offense is scary good and their defense is fearsome. QB Jackson (the likely MVP of the year) excels at both running and passing. My pick: I'm choosing KC in an upset win. Mahomes is great at avoiding sacks; his scrambling ability ex7ends plays and allows him to either run for good yardage or find an open receiver for big gains. Detroit at San Francisco - SF favored by 7.5 points =============================== Detroit: They have already exceeded expectations. With an excellent passing game, a good run game, and an intimidating defense, they could upset SF - I give them maybe a 40% chance of doing so. Detroit needs their strong running game to have early success against the SF run defense (ranked 25th). This will slow down the SF pass rush and allow Detroit QB Goff time to hit open receivers. But they'll need their defense to slow down one of the best offenses in the league. SF: Both their offense and defense are among the best in the league. QB Purdy has over achieved, and running back Christian McAffrey is dangerous as both a runner and a receiver. One interesting to watch is yards after contact. The SF offense leads the league in yards gained after contact, and the Detroit defense leads in fewest yards gained after contact. My pick: SF should win, but I'm rooting for Detroit. If they run well, somehow slow McAffrey, and get a turnover or two they have a real chance. So again, I'm picking the underdog - Detroit to win in a close game, and advance to their first Super Bowl. RE: Saturday & Sunday, January 27 & 28, 2024 - Rich - 01-28-2024 Thamks Dave, beautiful skies! Dave second one does look like a space launch or..... UAP? Thanks Grant. I did that from 2003 to 2020. New management had different ideas that didn't include me and that was fine. I still do it for our historical society. |
