Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Rich - 11-02-2023 I took many photos with my phone camera as I soon found out that juggling my camera and cane ( hip replacement ) was a chore. We did walk quite a bit and took the cane to use when my hip started to get weak. By the end of the trip I didn't use it much. Here is Carrie Underwood at the Grand Ole Opry and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO. We were on our way back home. The arch is amazing. Went to the top riding a tram on the inside. Quite a feat. It is 630 feet high.. Baseball field is the home of the St. Louis Cardinals. RE: Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 11-02-2023 Oh those photos are grand, Rich. It is always fun to see photos from vacations, especially of places where I have never been. The arch is so impressive. I bet the ride up and down was thrilling. You got a great shot of the stadium and the city from that viewpoint. The angle you placed the streets at works nicely in this composition. I am sure I told this story before, but as a math teacher, I showed a film of engineers planning the construction of the arch and then the actual assembly of it. There was a moment in the film, a brief moment, where they showed a blue print of the arch and mathematical formulas for this PARABOLA. it was so fascinating to see how they joined the two arches from each side. They had to wait for the perfect day, perfect temperature, NO WIND, and on to pull it off. I cannot imagine doing something like this. Heck, if I took a piece of paper and started drawing a line from one side and then from the other and having them be perfectly straight or perfectly arched and meet dead center, I couldn't do it. This was an amazing feat. Thanks, Rich. It sounds like all of that walking made your hip stronger. Good for you. Tonights is our photo shoot. I am trying to gather up things around the house to put in my white box or other set ups that we will have in the room. I got out some Christmas ornaments that might make for a good still life. I am hoping others bring lots of stuff. I have three tripods, lights, cameras, the huge white box. Geez, I need dolly just to get all of this stuff in there. Well, a while back I talked about the street photography that we had for our club challenge last month. I never finished showing you my photos. So, here is another. RE: Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 11-02-2023 Yes. Amazing. I am amazed.
RE: Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Rich - 11-02-2023 Thanks Lorell. I saw the same video, tour director bought a copy and showed it on the bus. Really quite a feat. If you noticed in the video no one used a safety harness and no one died making the arch. Interesting street shot, little boy wants to go look at the bikes! Good luck with the still life! RE: Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Dave - 11-02-2023 Hi Rich. Glad your hip recuperation is going well. Neat photos. I've been to the top of both the Gateway Arch and Seattle's Space Needle (which is 605 feet high). Hi Lorell. I've seen that photo – probably on Flickr. Very well done, of course. I'm still plugging away at my Flickr albums. Maybe tomorrow I'll post a link that I hope will allow even non-Flickr members to view the album for the Anna's hummingbird that in early 2018 nested outside our front door and raised two chicks. If that link works (and if anyone is interested) I'll do the same with my other Flickr albums. RE: Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 11-02-2023 Yes Dave, you definitely saw that photo on my FLICKR page. Geez, Now that you, Peter, Don, and Rich are on FLIKR, you will get to see my photos twice! Lucky you. RE: Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 11-02-2023 Double vision. |
