Wednesday, Oct 4, 2023 - Don - 10-04-2023

Good morning all.

Today I have to go the local library where all of the artwork is on display to man a table, ostensibly to answer any questions folks viewing the artwork might have about that or the local artists guild. Two hours of fun... not.  Things will be on display until the end of this month, then we have to collect our pieces. I remember the last time I entered I didn't win any prize, but the library liked one of my photos enough that they wanted to keep it on display for another year. At least that was something.

Another flower photo from the campground taken with the Lumix.

I have been among the missing lately so I better get with it.

Beautiful color on that flower Don! Ya can't beat Mother Nature. Looks 3D! I bet you will enjoy the meet and greet time. I always did.

Here are a few photos from the Octoberfest this past Saturday. I got there early so not many there yet. The Depot is at the south end of main. In my day it was the turn around spot when dragging main. It was the RR Depot for us until train travel went away. Tracks behind it. Now a neat place to eat and gather.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the pretty start to our daily, DON.
I like the tiny yellow flowers inside the big purple flower.  Sweet.

Rich,
After looking at your photos from the festival, I have some questions.

Regarding the last photo, I was going to ask if that was a beer-drinking contest. Then I read the back of the guy's shirt that said, STRAIGHT ARMS, FULL STEINS, DON'T DROP.  You are so clever, Rich, to include the back of the guy's shirt in this composition.  I could see my son wanting to participate in this event.
Did you watch to see who won?  And how long did it take before there was only one left?  COOL CONTEST.

But then, I cannot figure out what is happening in the 2nd photo. What's with the nails in the stump and the girl with the hammer with the pointed end?

The band looks pretty good for being established in 1883! (at least I think that is what it says on the banner).

I know I have shared this photo before, but this is a closer crop.
Got nothing new for now.

Lorell,
You give me credit for the shirt but I was ticked because he was right in the way all the time. I didn't have a choice not to include him!! The winner in the photo below is the one on the right. It took about 3-4 minutes.

They had to pound them in with the pointy end. Passed the hammer after each try. First one to get the head flush with the log wins.

You have the right date on the band. Ha, not the same people though! I have a short video of a polka they were playing. I don't think I could upload it here though. The guy on the left playing the corenet is a friend of mine. He was a band teacher and was this bands director for many years. Now retired and just plays.

LOve the macro photo of the dragon fly that ate NY. Huge looking beast that close up. Nice and sharp.
