Monday, June 19, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 06-19-2023 Hello and welcome to the start of a new week. I hope you all had a lovely weekend and a specially nice Father's Day. Our two kids came over and we bar-b-qued steaks on the grill and had a nice dinner outside on the patio. I plan on doing a little sewing today. I need to finish some of my quilting projects before I start others. Unfortunately, shopping for material has been so much fun, especially in all the new quilt stores that my daughter and I discovered in the small towns up north. As a matter of fact, the little town where this old jewelry store was had TWO quilt shops. Oh my, what is a girl to do? Have a great start to your week. LORELL RE: Monday, June 19, 2023 - Dave - 06-19-2023 Another fine architectural B&W, Lorell; the darks predominate, nicely contrasted by the well-controlled whites; and the exaggerated perspective creates striking sharp angles and lines. I admire your value control, and with grayscale images if the values are not handled well, the image fails. You nailed it. In contrast to your image, here is one with strong color and no straight lines, angles, or shapes. Taken 3 days ago under our usual June marine layer morning overcast skies, I intentionally shot at a faster shutter speed than called for to minimize camera shake, knowing it would be dark and that I could lighten selected areas. This is from the same large tub of mundane potato plants that I've shot before. It's probably 15%-20% too dark and with the value contrast a bit too strong, but overall I'm pleased with this one: I especially like the organic shapes of the slightly blurred leaves and how they set off the sharper blossom details. RE: Monday, June 19, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 06-19-2023 Great B&W of the outstanding Jewelllery store Lorell. Might be a bit dark Dave but it shows me the aphid quite clearly. A bit frosty here this morning. Got down to -3˚C. The dewdrops were frozen on the outside. If I shake the vine, the water moves but stays inside the frozen shell. The plant is Wonga Wonga. Wonga vine to many. Used for various things by indigenous Australians including making spears. |
