Thursday, June 8, 2023 - Dave - 06-08-2023 Good day Foto Friends. Sorry I missed yesterday. Was trying to clear up a mess with the DMV. Some blue flower whose name I should remember, taken on this morning's early walk... RE: Thursday, June 8, 2023 - Rich - 06-08-2023 Greetings Dave, your flower looks lonely! A beautiful blue. Here is some more blue. The Albuquerque, NM balloon festival. Every time I try to spell that town I rely on spell check. Can you imagine being in Grade school and having to learn how to spell it! RE: Thursday, June 8, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 06-08-2023 Is it Agapanthus, Dave? In Aussie, we call them Aggie's pants. Only had my phone with me for this and a few photos I've shown. So that's my excuse. This is some human rubbish atop some human caused erosion.
RE: Thursday, June 8, 2023 - Dave - 06-09-2023 Thanks Rich. A lot of action in your quality photo. I'd like to take photos at a hot air balloon event sometime; I'm thinking golden hour lighting would present some fine images. MFI, thanks for your identification; I believe Agapanthus is correct. I like the blue-black vs earthy orange contrast in your photo. And it made me wonder why we aren't taking better care of our planet. I also wonder why we don't realise that our presence on this planet is very tenuous. We really should be more concsious of our actions. As an example anecdote: This particular site of which I could show horrific soil erosion and loss of uncounted numbers of fragile plants and animal species in that location, due mainly to soil theft and motorcycle pseudo MX heroes. Caring nothing for what the reactions to their actions may ensue. Every rainfall after each illegal MX episode, takes tonnes of earth and terrestrial orchids away to waste. While they are at it, they drink and make merry and discard their rubbish. ![]() This shot is a microcosm of the devastation I refer to. I'm taking this photo above eye level and I'm standing in the start of one of several veritable grand canyons of erosion which to this day are still attacked by motocross riders unlicensed and on unregistered motorcycles deliberately bashing the bush.
