It is simply because I wake up earlier than you each day.

I have a Flickr set/album, only about 'fallen things'. I'm always interested about what happens on the forest floor. Particularly if it is in my own self planted forest. These are new additions to that album.

The tree these have fallen from.

So that is what is under the DOWN UNDER.
Peter, is that the first time you spotted such fungi (?) growing in your backyard? I never saw anything like it!
Thanks for the early start to Thursday’s thread. Now I do not have to get up so early.

Not fungi in the intent, though fungi is rotting down the plant material anyway. The above photos are fallen flowers and the bud caps from the Eucalyptus erythrocorys, four chambered flower buds.
Here's some fungi producing spores. I did take these photos this morning.

and... I created this environment or habitat, for all these forms of life to take up residence, simply by planting some native trees.

Nice photos, MFI - unique and interesting, as always.

Another neighborhood shot of departing storm clouds in the early morning, from a set taken 8 days ago...

When I'm out walking (with camera handy, of course) either I'm looking down (for flowers, succulents and/or insects) or looking up (for sunrises & sunsets, storm clouds, or birds). In both cases I have often come close to walking face-first in to a tree or post.

All I can see are palm trees, so would that be a facepalm?
