Friday, Feb 24, 2023 - Don - 02-24-2023

Good morning all. Quite warm here for Feb, already in the low 70's and only 6:30. (I looked at my watch and it said 5:55- must be time for a new battery).

Had a nice visit with DD and family. Rode my motorcycle up Monday and spent most of Wednesday riding the curves in north Georgia. Fun times.

I looked through the posts this week - too many to comment on individually but all were nice. Glad to see the activity.

Here are a couple of snapshots taken with my phone. I didn't take any of my "good cameras" with me on this trip. First stop was by a stream and the second at an overlook. The parking area was covered with graffiti. I don't really understand why people feel a need to do that. Ugly.

My plan for today is to clean the motorcycle and oil the chain. Hope all have a good day today.

TGIF Don and any who visit later.

Don, it looks like your temps will be 30 degrees warmer than ours here in coastal SoCal. So far the steady rainfall they predicted here for the next 2 days hasn't materialized.

My apologies for not commenting on your very fine photo of a Black Phoebe several days ago. Yes, I recognized it right away even though it is lighter, more brown than black, compared to the ones we see out here. Maybe it's just the nature of the light, but I suspect yours and ours are regional variants. In your photo I like how the colors of the post somehow make the drab bird more prominent.

Yesterday was a good photo day for me; it yielded enough decent captures for me to have 5 or 6 ready to post. I'll do one a day, starting with this one of a nice rose against a clear sky...

I realize that this one is kinda prettified to the point of looking like just one of many thousands of similar "post card" images, but I still like it.

Wishing you all a safe, healthy, happy, and productive weekend.

Don, glad you got a chance to ride your bike.....the weather has been ideal for it!
Dave, that is one beautiful bud....looks great against the blue sky....

Don't know if I posted my daffodils....can't remember.....but most of mine have burst into bloom, and I doubt the season will be long for them....too early by several weeks...but I am enjoying them. And a couple of crocus....

Am I wrong or could you get Saffron from these?

Good morning all. It is Sat morning and I am about to start the weekend thread but wanted to respond here first.

Great rose photo Dave. You have really done good jobs on all the roses you post.

Pretty daffodils Natalie. I remember seeing several on my ride earlier this week in north Georgia. Down here we often see them in fields, etc. From what I have read a lot of them are on the sites of old home steads, planted by early settlers. Houses gone, flowers remain.

Interesting information about the Crocus Peter.

I'm off to start the weekend thread. I think I will post a link to a small portion of my ride this week. Lots of fun curves on the bike.

Thanks, Don.
Peter, yes, Saffron comes from a crocus, but I think the variety matters, mine won't make saffron......It's so expensive because of the tiny part of the flower used, takes a LOT to make a tiny amount of Saffron...
