Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Dreamin - 02-18-2023 Hi. Freary here...some rain....got a bit cooler.....been looking at old photos....Did I ever share this one with y'all....it was when I did a photo shoot for my niece on her graduation from home schooling.....Then I played around with "floating" an image into another image. Sorry if it's a repeat.....I can no longer remember what I have or have not shared. RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 02-18-2023 Natalie, Too funny! Well done. The shadows make it quite realistic. Natalie, Too funny! Riding the cockadoo.... Well done. The shadows make it quite realistic. RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 02-18-2023 Howdy Partner, that is what your photo reminds me of, Natalie. How sweet is that? I bet she loved it. Good Job, Natalie. And thanks for starting the weekend thread. Your yellow daffies in the stainless steal sink yesterday were really sharp, Natalie. That silver was a nice compliment to the yellow. Dave, if you are lurking. Your framed yellow flowers would look great hanging on a wall next to Natalies. Nice work you too. Hey Grant, you noticed the excellent work on the shadows too. Makes a big difference. Another great day on AMI. We have been spoiled. I took this photo this morning for the SMILE ON SATURDAY FLICKR challenge. The topic was a reflection of something in a mirror. This is in an old curio cabinet in the house we are renting. I put a flashlight on the glass shelf overhead to liven things up a bit. Light makes the difference! I call it: Reflections of Mardi Gras RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Dave - 02-19-2023 That's quite an image, Natalie. Humorous and as Grant noted, expertly done. Grant, thank you for constantly participating; you're helping to keep this site alive. Lorell, another inspired concept for a unique photo. Well judged and executed: your values are spot-on for this little scene, the colors are strong and realistic and pleasing, and the moderate bokeh to the reflection is perfect. Nothing nearly that creative from me; just another shot of succulents with a few parts bathed in morning light. But I did try to take it in a different direction by using a different color option in PSE for a kinda sepia look. That plus 8 different Brightness/Contrast adjustment layers, each targeting a different area of the photo, resulted in this version... RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Don - 02-19-2023 Good morning all. Yeah, pretty cool here this morning as well although it had risen into the low 50's now. We are going to visit DD tomorrow for a few days and I had considered riding my motorcycle but it is going to be a bit cool for riding and there is a bit of a chance for rain, so I am going to pass on that. Atlanta traffic would be bad enough on a bike without having to ride through rain. I've been working on my travel blog of our birding trip to Laredo if anyone would care to take a peek. https://donlwilliams.net/travelblog/ Nice job on the photo Natalie - funny indeed. Dave, I like the color on the photo. Interesting and kind of antique looking too. Nice Mardi Gras photo Lorell - that is something that I have never been too interested in being involved with. Guess I am getting old. The strong, contrasting colors and shallow depth of field really make this one pop. Hi Grant. And I want to thank all of our you regular posters for keeping us afloat. I know I don't post as often as I probably should but I am always lurking and making sure we are "up". There have been a few glitches lately that fortunately I have been able to get corrected pretty quickly. Meanwhile, here is a bird that Dave should recognize and one that we used to see a lot when we visited California. Of course this was taken in south Texas. A Black Phoebe. RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 02-19-2023 Blessings to all on this Sunday. A nice subtle tone on your flowers, Dave. The composition and faint light is calming. Don, we appreciate that you are keeping this blog up and running. I am glad that it is in good hands like yours. The phoebe shot is really nice, especially with the multicolored painted post that it is perched on. I shall take a peek at your Bird Journal when I am done here. I am sure there will be some surprises. When I opened my eyes this morning and saw cloud formations in the sky over the ocean, I grabbed my camera and out for a walk I went. We have had pretty much clear skies so far this February and I have been waiting for some interesting backgrounds for beach scenes. I got lucky this morning and not only got some interesting clouds but some rays of light breaking through. I think I see several WEATHER balloons too. I left them in on purpose. Can you find them?
RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 02-19-2023 Lorell, Your colourfull image is effective. The reflection's use circles of confusion in contrast with the sharply lit foreground is handled well. Speaking of circles of confusion they look like weather ballons in your seascape. Dave, Keep those succulents coming. Thanks for the support and kind words. Don, You are doing a thankless job, so thank you. The painted post is a perfect foil for your bird... We don't live in an area where flowers and birds thrive all year long so more Frosty the Snow Pane We are into a kitchen/dining room remodel. Too cold to paint outside walls. RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Dreamin - 02-19-2023 Thank you for all the nice comments, everyone. Very nice, Lorell....I like the depth of field....the colors are festive! Let's party!! You got a beautiful shot over the water. Great sky and sunburst! Hey, Shoot down those balloons!! Isn't it funny how the sun can cause the lense to have those reflections in the shot....I forget what they are called...... Dave, very nice vintage looking floral.....Well composed and I like the framing! Don, I have never seen a Black Phoebe.....well shot! Sharp! I like the stump? the bird is on, too....the color works well with the more subdued colored bird. Grant, another sharp capture of mother nature's artwork! Well done! As Lorell says, it almost looks like a snowy mountain scene. This is one of my favorites!! RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 02-19-2023 GRANT, I like this frosted pane a lot. It looks like snow is falling and trees are framing the sides of this composition. Thanks all for the comments. It was a nice weekend thread. LORELL PS. Don, I enjoyed your blog very much. Looks like it was a great trip. RE: Saturday, Sunday, February 18-19, 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 02-20-2023 (02-19-2023, 08:30 PM)Luv2shoot Wrote: GRANT, I like this frosted pane a lot. It looks like snow is falling and trees are framing the sides of this composition. I too liked this frozen pane. It fitted well in the same thread with Dave's star like succulent fowers. I also enjoyed all the birding talk and photos in Don's blog. Thanks for that. The rooster shot looks a bit like she dropped onto the chook's back by falling from the sky. Neat idea. |
