Friday, February 17, 2023 - Luv2shoot - 02-17-2023 Hello all, and welcome to Friday's daily. I was reading our local club's website and saw that there were 111 photos submitted for last evening's meeting. Oh My! That had to take a long time to get through all of those. Now that we have more participating members (some members join but do not submit images), we shall have to reduce the number of images that each member can submit. That is okay with me. Sometimes it is difficult to come up with 9 NEW images that I feel are worthy of sharing. Well, I hope you have a great start to your day. Here's one from the Detroit Historical Museum visit that I did share for this month's meeting. RE: Friday, February 17, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 02-17-2023 Lorell, Again good use of your fisheye to minimize distortion! Great warm color and composition BTW. RE: Friday, February 17, 2023 - Dave - 02-17-2023 Hi Lorell, and thanks for starting our Daily. I've never been a fan of the fish-eye lens look, but there are so many good things about your photo that in this case I can get past my bias: wonderful warm colors, solid composition as always, a full range of values, great textures, beautiful light. Very nice! Here's one of the photos I mentioned a day or so ago from Wednesday morning's early walk. Another shot of a succulent in our outer front yard emerging from shadow into the lovely low morning light... Hi Grant. I hope all is well with you today. RE: Friday, February 17, 2023 - Dreamin - 02-17-2023 Lorell, wide angle? I see it brings in a lot of detail a normal lens would not. Good choice. That's a neat color , too. So warm and inviting. Dave, this is a real nice compositio. Love the warm yellows against the dark background with some shadowy flowers in the darkness. Well done! I'm going to do yellows, too. Picked a couple of daffies last night before the rains.....just a snap on the stainless sink. RE: Friday, February 17, 2023 - Rich - 02-17-2023 Lorell, our club was small and we only allowed 3 per member. I really like the blacksmith shop. Very warm colors give the feeling that the fire is lit and the "Smitty" is cranking out horseshoes. You gotta be lovein' that fish eye! Dave, love the light. They call sunset the Golden Hour because of the setting sun. Is it the same for the morning and what do you call it? I don't get up early enough to see or know that! Natalie, beautiful! Would have never thought of using the kitchen sink for a background! Hi Grant! A beautiful blue sky day here today and 32 degrees F. Been doing errands today. I have 6 paintings that I donated to our historical society hanging there and finally got around to making name plates for them. Will take a photo the next time I am down there and post it. RE: Friday, February 17, 2023 - Adamphotoman - 02-18-2023 Natalie, I miss daffies in spring. Dave, Natalie picked up on your yellow theme.... RE: Friday, February 17, 2023 - Dave - 02-19-2023 Thanks you Natalie, Rich, and Grant. Natalie, you have a special talent for shooting daffodils. Today's is superb: The diagonal play of light on the sink is great; it emphasizes the texture of the sink without that overpowering the flowers. Your composition is top-notch, and the colors of the subject look realistic and pleasing against the neutral gray of the sink. And your shot of a couple days ago with daffodils set against the peeling paint is equally as fine. These two photos are a good lesson on how to use interesting and even detailed backgrounds to complement, not distract from the subject. Rich, I think that the lowering light of both sunrise and sunset are very similar, and I call both of them Golden Hours. Hi Grant. |
