I couldn't sleep, so I did some night/early morning shooting.

I like these photos, Michael!
Thanks for starting the daily!
The first one has a great composition and light.
I also like the B&W walkway. Ghost town!
Pretty town. the brick walkways are a nice touch.
You made good use of your night lighting.

We took the dog for a hike yesterday at Bryant State Park.
It was a beautiful day.

Michael, great idea for a night time shoot. First one my favorite....it reminds me of a bank in a town near me, but I would have to drive 50 minutes to get there, and it would have to be very late to be empty on the streets.....
Patty, pretty place to walk, and I see your trees are changing.....I still don't see much color here.....

some more sheep shots....I sat down in the pasture (carefully) and Momma sheep wanted to take a nap....the black one is a bit on the shy side and would watch me like a hawk!

Thanks for starting the Daily, Michael.

You do night scenes exceptionally well.

Not me; I struggle with them.

Hi damar. Taking the dog for a hike in a park on a beautiful day - doesn't get any better than that.

My penultimate floral photo from a morning walk several days ago...

Wishing you all a good week.

Natalie, you posted while I was correcting my usual typos.

Sheep are, IMO, underrated as subjects for photos; I like your photo.

Sheep can be great subjects for painting. A contemporary watercolor artist who I admire creates wonderful, expressive paintings of sheep (and camels and rabbits and elephants and hedgehogs and more). Her name is Jean Haines and for those interested, her website is jeanhaines.com

A bit of everything for this start to our weeklies.
Thanks, Michael.  Sorry that you couldn't sleep, but your ventures brought back good fortune.
I have two favorites, the first and the fourth.  I like the details and colors in both. The corner entrance of the first with the shades of browns and teal awning makes this unique .  The perspective of the fourth shot really pulls the viewer in.  It makes me want to go out and shoot some night shots.

Natalie, Awe, so sweet.  I am glad to see you out with your camera.  There for a while, I was wondering if those days would ever return.  I think you would have to admit that with your life still being so busy, you still have to find time to take photos.  Do ever wonder how you manage to do EVERYTHING when you were working so many hours.  I hope you get to sleep in at least now and a lot of your worries are gone since the chickens flew the coup.

Patty, that is pretty much what it looks like around here.  That was a lovely walk.  Today and tomorrow we have chilly temps (in the 40's) and lots of gusting winds. Our leaves will all be whipped out soon.  I wish they would last longer, they are stunning this year, as always.

Dave, We take photos of things that we feel most comfortable taking. That is why few of us take street photography.  You do well to take advantage of settings and lighting when you photograph your florals. The contrasting red and green work nice in this TRIO BLOOM composition as does your crop that fills the frame.  Well done. I will follow your subject, Dave.

We also have our own style that we tend to embrace.  The other day I showed my husband 23 photos that were posted in an Olympus Camera Photo Blog that I participate in.  I asked him to pick out his three favorites. As he scrolled through them, when he came to mine (#21), he said, "that one is yours".  I guess I have a style too.

This Thursday is our local club meeting and NATURE is one of the topics.  In the style of MIKE MOATS, a local photographer I know I have mentioned and shared his videos with you before, I chose this photo as one of three for the club meeting.  Mike says that if you want to take a photo of a flower, look for one that is unique.  When I spotted this flower growing in the wild, I figured this was the kind of thing he was talking about.

All today's posts look great. Here is a different angle and crop from the American Elm I posted last week.

Dave, that is a flower I have never seen around here. Lovely!
Lorell, yours is very dramatic with the deep greens and then the whites with the curved stem. Wonderful!!
Grant, those are vivid leaves for sure!!

RE: Monday, October 17, 2022 - damar - 10-17-2022

Hi Dave!
Your pretty red flowers look like fiber optic decorations! They are very unusual!
The red and green has a holiday vibe to it!

Natalie, the sheep are so pretty! I answered the breed question on the Friday (?) thead.
Interesting!

Lorell, the rich greens in your photo really set off the wildflower with the cute stem!
The fern in the background is pretty!

Hi Grant! Those leaves are lit up beautifully!

Well, I have been busy at the machine making items for the holidays.
I ordered a pack of fabric cuts (called fat quarters) and took this photo to use for my review.
This is going into my post holiday stash.

Dave, your photo was of a bottlebrush hybrid. Callistemon "Little John".
