Monday, Aug 29, 2022 - Don - 08-29-2022

Good morning all and welcome to the last week of August. Hope everyone has something good planned for the week. The only think for me (so far) is to have new tires put on the motorcycle. Ordered last week so when they come in I'll take the bike over to the shop and get new tires! These will be so much better then the OEM tires that it came with.

OK, I'll start the week with a few BW images from my ride over to Andersonville. These are mostly just random shots of the cemetery. One shows a representative section of what the wall of the prison would have looked like, with the guard tower. The little stone building to the lower right was built over a small spring, which was the only source of water for the prison. Conditions were abysmal to say the least.

Hope to see some activity here today.

Very interesting photos, Don....I had to google Andersonville ....wow....so many prisoners and so many deaths for the short time it was there.....must have been awful....

Thanks, Don, for starting our daily. I too just read the history of this horrible prison. Knowing the details must have made this visit quite a moving experience. So sad and so bad. Those are great moody shots, Don. The clouds are perfect for the somber subject that you captured.

Good morning, Natalie.

Time to get out and get groceries. Need the basics. Expecting bad storms this afternoon.
Be back later with some pics.

Excellent photos of the Andersonville Historic site.
A somber place.
If anyone wants to learn more about this conflict, I highly recommend Ken Burns "The Civil War" series.
I have seen it several times and it takes days for it to wear off after watching.

Excellent Photos, Don. Now I really want to start scratching off the bucket list stuff.
We already visited Chickamauga in TN and of course had to take SiL to Gainesville to get photos of the gravesite of Gen James Longstreet.
It would be great to visit them in the order that the battles were fought but would not be mileage wise.

I am still around! Getting some projects finished up.
