Just a little shot of a pond I ran across. This is pretty much as close as I get to taking flower/nature pics.

RE: Friday, August 5, 2022 - Don - 08-05-2022

Good morning Michael and any who follow. That is a nice, summery scene. Just curious, do you just not like nature photography or not as much as other subjects? I pretty much like all kinds of photography, just depends on my mood that the camera I want to shoot with.

Hope everyone else's day is going better than mine. I did something to my back yesterday and had a miserable night trying to sleep. Could hardly walk this morning, so I popped a strong Ibuprofen to see if it would help. So of course our plumbing decided this would be a good morning to clog. Spent an hour or so getting it to drain again, which I have pretty much gotten down to a science since it happens regularly. Back pain made it an interesting chore though. But seems to be OK now...

I wanted to take a motorcycle ride today but with my back that is out of the question, so I've decided to do some web page maintenance and upgrades.

Thanks for starting us off, Michael! That is a pretty tapestry of green!
I used to not care to shoot landscapes. I wanted to just do people, airshows and
animals. Since I'm surrounded by landscape more than city life, areobatics and critters,
landscape just grew on me.
But I will work any cool opportunity that comes along!

Don,
I hope you can feel some relief before the day is out.
My dentist recommends 2 ibuprophen + 1 tylenol for pain
(at the same time) which has nearly the same affect as a prescription pain reliever.
My root canal dentist provides a prescription which I won't use. Addictive.
Yeah, not a good day for a motorcycle ride.

Plumbing...plugged roof vent can cause plumbing to slow down.
Actually found that to be true in our first house.
DH cleaned it out and all was good.

It's dragonfly season. They love the T-post that we used in combination with hog wire to string up the cucumbers.
I love how attentive they are and seeing them zap gnats out of the air.

RE: Friday, August 5, 2022 - Dave - 08-05-2022

Michael, I find your photo very refreshing on a day where it's uncomfortably hot and humid by coastal SoCal standards. Much appreciated.

Don, I'm sorry to hear about your back. I know from long experience how debilitating that can be. but somehow we persevere and do what needs doing.

damar, that's an exceptionally fine image of the dragonfly!

Nothing new from me, so I just completely reworked an old (probably 20 years ago or more) photo of a visiting bluebird. I rarely see bluebirds in my area - I believe they prefer the higher altitudes of SoCal foothills and mountains.

92F with %71 humidity here. We consider this a cool day for this time of year.

Hope the back gets better. In the service it was always Motrin as a cure all… for everything.

The dragonfly and bird are magnificent!! Great motion, great colors.

May the plumbing continue to work!

No, I have nothing at all against nature photography. It just seems that every time I frame up a nature pic something else catches my eye.

Dave, that fluffed up little blue bird looks great with the blue background!
I like the crop too.

Hi Michael!
I wish I had more action that my rural landscapes. It seems
like I have photographed the entire northeast quadrant of the state!

Hot and muggy here too. I am looking forward to fall.

Beautiful summer pond picture, Michael.

Dave, occasionally see a bluebird here but not often. They are quite pretty.
Patty, splendid dragonfly. I just had a large red one fly by yesterday. I love to watch them fly.
Don, I thought of you riding when I saw an interesting bike yesterday. A Triumph Rocket 3R.

I finally picked a tomato I've been watching ripen for a while. It's on the counter and will be tried in a day or two.
A Mariana's Peace at just over 1 pound 3 ounces.

Michael, a nice looking pond. Looks like it could hold some bass!

Don, I feel for you with the back trouble, not good!

Patty. what an awesome shot of the dragonfly! Very crisp! The post and the soft background really puts him/her in the spot light!

Dave, nice! Good focus and blurred background! We used to call that depth of focus, DOF.

Steve, wowsers! That is one large tomato! Will make a bunch of BLT's,  and enough left over for a couple of salads!

Here is one shot from the Pre-Sturgis party. I came late and the crowed had thinned but it wasn't as good as years past. Probably had something to do with the weather.
 Will have more tomorrow.
The building on the right that has the VFW sign used to be an art gallery that I was in. In fact, the first one to display in 2003. It was called the Prairie Breeze.
