Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - Don - 07-27-2022

Good morning folks, it is 0540 and 77F here this morning. Going to be warm today but no rain in the forecast. I'm trying to decide what cameras to take with me on my ride this morning. I know I will take my Z6 with the small zoom lens, and maybe my Yashica D which I haven't used in a while. I'll have my GoPro mounted so I can get some video of the "skyway" as well. I am hoping to be geared up and ready to go before 0700 as it will take me a couple of hours to reach the point where I will get on the skyway. Hope to have some photos to share later today.

About 03:25 here in SoCal and a very pleasant 66F (but it will probably rise another 20F by mid-afternoon).

Have a safe and fun ride, Don. Looking forward to seeing the photos you get.

There are hundreds of varieties of Plumeria, and my favorite is the one that features soft white petals with an egg-yolk yellow center. It's hard to take a bad photo of this variety. Here's one I took last week; I was looking for a nicely-shaped cluster of blossoms, and thought this gracefully arching cluster against the dark green was quite pleasing...

Hi to those who visit later; wishing you all a good day.

Drive safe, Don! Looking forward to your photos!

Wow Dave! Knock me over with gorgeous contrast and color!
What a beautiful cluster of flowers.
Nice work and pleasing composition!

I have nothing new today but will keep coming back

Hoping things at Natalies Farm are ok...yesterdays late afternoon radar screen looked intense.

Good morning all. G0od to hear your activities. I'm buried in yard work for a while. At least I have some help trimming a large hedge. I did manage to frame a couple of prints I did for someone.

RE: Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - damar - 07-27-2022

Hi Quint--Steve, right?
Yard work coming this weekend for me. I'm going to remove the cucumber vines. they are turning yellow from the vine borers and we are covered up in
cucumbers for now.
I'll hopefully be better equipped to battle that next year ( maybe by natural means in either companion planting or some kind of herbal concoction to ward them off)

Hedges: yup...they get out of control fast.

This is an ipad shot from yesterday--only the green pepper is from my garden. The tomatoes are slow but looking good.

I used those red and yellow sweet peppers (store bought) in my fajita skillet last night and they were like leather. Ugh.
I have one sweet pepper plant but it isn't doing anything.

Hi all.
Been busy again lately.
My car broke down on Monday on the way back from the movies on Monday.  I was able to make it home with my flashers on.  I cannot get the car to the dealership until August 11th.  Can you believe that?  But I am ready to ditch this car and look for another.  I started to do that yesterday.  I hate shopping for cars and spending that kind of money.  UGH.

It was fun reading yesterday's thread and I agree, I cannot believe how much you all have in common.  It is something that I know nothing about, however.

Don, I hope you are having a good  trip today and returning with many good images of the new sights you are going to see.

Dave, That is a lovely cluster of Plumeria.  It is such a pure and perfect looking flower.  Your focus and contrast is excellent.  That yellow center sure pops.

Patty, Nice veggie still life.  It always seems like the cucumber season is short.  But it sounds like your harvest was plentiful.

I am not sure if I shared this photo yet with you.  Please let me know if it is a repeat.  I used it for last week's club meeting.

Hi Lorell!
Missed you yesterday! Hope the movie was fun!
Car problems are not.
I hope they call you back and tell you they have an opening.
That can happen!!
My tomato plants are about to tip over with the cages and all.
San Marzanos need to be held up with ladders!
LOL. How are yours doing?

Your photo: the first thing that popped into my mind was
"one if by land, two if by sea"
I love the light coming into those lace curtains!
The lanterns have a nice vintage look!
I love kerosene lanterns and probably have more than any one person needs.
So this is a really cool photo!
Smile

Shout out to Rich, Grant, MFIB, Michael, Natalie et al...

RE: Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - Don - 07-27-2022

Good afternoon all. Enjoying the firearms posts from yesterday!  Who knew?

Dave, I have a photo somewhere of a blossom that looks like that that I took (I think) in Singapore. Nice image.

Nice veggie still life Patty. That green pepper looks like some that I have growing. Speaking of which, I need to check my plants to see if I can pick any.

That is a killer photo Lorell. I like that a lot! Kerosene lamps - reminds me of my grandmothers house. Didn't have electricity so we used kerosene lamps. I wrote a song about that house years ago - one line was "I'd do homework by the flickering of an oil lamp".

Got back from my ride around noon after leaving a 0645. It was the longest ride I have done on this bike, about 230 miles total. My butt was a bit sore starting around the 4 hour mark though. The ride was good but the photo ops non-existent. The "skyway" was a lot of fun to ride with plenty of twisties and hills but the so called scenic overlooks were not so scenic. Didn't take a single photo with my "real" cameras. Here are a few from my phone though. The weather was good but hot. Lots of green!!!

Tonight is home made pizza night, apparently. DW got some pizza dough from Publix that she wants to try so we'll see how that goes. We don't eat pizza too often these days as we are both trying to keep our weight down. We'll splurge a bit tonight I guess.

RE: Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - damar - 07-27-2022

Good to see you back, Don!
What a pretty place to stop and take a few snaps and a tailbone break!
Ha...some times we would ride 9 hours on one weekend day. I know what that feels like.
(DD was living at home and could let the dogs out while we were out)
We don't ride like that anymore.
So, what's that ridge line? Is it part of the Blue Ridge Mountains?
Really pretty. Looks like a nice day too.

Homemade pizza....oh boy!
Sounds great!

Greetings all! I'm still around, just lurking!
Heading out to the Black Hills Friday for an eye appointment and will be my birthday too! Golfing Sat morn with Grandson.

Dave, those have to be the most beautiful flowers of all. Amazing!

Patty, nice vegetable platter. Green pepper looks good! Love fajita's.

Lorell, A very peaceful scene for me. I like what Patty thought though! Well lit. Good angle.
