Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Dave - 07-12-2022 Good day, folks. This past Saturday was kind to my camera, yielding 4 or five decent photos. A small succulent in the outer yard displayed very photogenic tiny flowers... (I wish I had remembered to try different aperture settings - the photo would be much better if all of the flowers were in sharp focus.) RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Dreamin - 07-12-2022 Good Tuesday morning! Dave, you must have gotten up in the middle of the night (like 3 am?) to post this ..... That's an unusual looking flower, Dave. Yes, it's a shame that center flower is out of focus.....it frustrates me sometimes what the camera chooses to focus on...that's when I set it to manual focus so that I can choose what I want in focus, although looking through a tiny viewfinder is hard to focus. I like that the phone camera allows me to tap on the area I want in focus before I shoot, but then the phone camera is not as good as a my Nikon....Setting the Nikon camera to spot focus also helps..... Well, here is another of the wildflowers coming up in the field......it's a mallow, Malva Trimestris, .the flowers are about 3-4 inches across.....shot at f/5.3 RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - damar - 07-12-2022 Hi Everyone! Thanks for the early start on the Daily, Dave. Those little blossoms are beautiful! Pink and orange is so vibrant! Natalie, your mallow photo is beautifully lit! Love the color and DoF also. Sometimes our cameras need a sharp contrast to focus rather than an area of a larger plane. So I try to find an edge as close to my intended focus. We are back from a short visit with DD and SiL in Florida (I have no idea who the kids are in the inflatable canoe, but they were having a blast!) Paradise Beach at Melbourne, FL RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Rich - 07-12-2022 Good Day All! Dave, a beautiful color combination, nature is wonderful! Good composition. Natalie, lovely! I like the composition and DOF. Patty, canoe looks like fun.....for kids! Nice straight horizon! A beautiful day in FL! Here is a scene very seldom seen at our lake, smooth, glassy water! RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Dreamin - 07-12-2022 Hi, Patty! Thank you.....it was a very sunny day, and this was taken at noon...sometimes you CAN take photos in full sun!! Love your beach scene! Yes, those kids ARE having a great time! The supervisor adds interest ! Was that oceanside? Pretty calm if it was!! Thanks, Rich....That's a beautiful lake! Great blues. Great day to catch the reflections. Lots of nice homes around it. Are you very far from the lake where you live? RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - damar - 07-12-2022 Thanks Natalie! Most of the time, I have no choice about mid-day shots if we are out and about. You did great with your mallow! Yes, this was Atlantic side, just a bit south of the Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral (photo is same) Hi Rich! Your lake looks beautiful! You must have had a "non-wind event" to get a glass-like lake surface! LOL! The second photo is really nice. I like the red house and all the reflections. RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Luv2shoot - 07-12-2022 Hello Friends, Welcome back, Patty. I hope you enjoyed your visit with your Daughter and SIL. Was it hot down there? Being around water though does have a cooling effect even if you can only look at it. Did you get your toes wet? I love the kids in the canoe. They look like they are having quite a good time. Dave, That is really a pretty flower, with such pretty ombre in the petals of the flower. Keep 'em coming. Rich, Now that is a comforting and cooling scene. I agree with Patty, the red house is a nice splash of color and focus point. There are some nice homes on that lake. Natalie, Another beautiful and colorful bloom. I cannot wait to see what comes next. I am lucky with my Olympus. If I use the screen to compose a photo, I can touch the screen, as you do on your phone and the camera focuses on that point. It is such a great feature. I have got many good shots by shooting from the hip or lower. Mallow, every time that was mentioned, I started salivating. I use to love MALLOW CUPS. I ate so many of them as a teen! One of my favorite candy bars. Do you all know what I am talking about? I like them much better than Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Well, here is something totally unrelated to the above images that you all shared. The camera did a good job of getting the insect in the bird's mouth. Well, it is in focus on the original image. Have a good day, LORELL RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Rich - 07-12-2022 Natalie, Thanks, unfortunately we have a huge alge problem that is going to cost millions to fix. Every summer it turns green. Not visible in these photos but it is there. I live about 5 minutes away if the stop lights treat me right! As a grade school age boy we lived out there on the far left of the house photos. Thanks Patty! Very rare to have no wind here. Only about 10 MPH today. I can almost smell the salt air in your photo! Thanks Lorell! I did a similar shot a few years ago from a different part of the lake with the red house in it. Everyone of my FB friends loved it but no sales! Love the bird, nice catch! Good composition and the insect sure adds interest! Here is our dam and island. I slept overnight on the island as part of a Boy Scout event. RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - Man From Ironbark - 07-12-2022 When the farmers run out of phosphates or indeed change their farming methods, the blue-green algae won't flourish. It is largely over use of superphosphate that leaches straight into all the adjacent waterways that causes algal blooms. I love the flower shots soft or sharp. That's a lovely pink mallow Natalie. The bird with the insect caught is a great capture Lorell. All these lovely water shots cause me some envy. Though I do have wetlands a few minutes away and I live amongst irrigated farmland, it is usually so arid anywhere else. A local groundcover known as Scaevola.
RE: Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 - damar - 07-12-2022 Rich that control structure/dam on your lake is pretty cool looking! Hi Lorell! Thank you! It was REALLY hot in FL, but tolerable at the beach. Always a decent breeze and an afternoon shower to wet things down (and increase the humidity!) Parking lots are sheer heat torture. Your Bird and Insect capture is GREAT!!! Love the colors too! Focus looks good on my screen! Nice shot! Hi MFIB Peter! We can get some serious algae bloom here in the summer in ponds if they are shallow and not aerated. Cows don't care! Your bursting bloom is beautiful! |
