Friday, May 20th, 2022 - Luv2shoot - 05-20-2022 Happy Friday. Got any plans for the weekend? I am hoping that we will finally be going over to my daughter's house to celebrate mother's day. She is finally getting over the respiratory side effects from her episode with Covid three weeks ago! My photo club meeting went well last evening. I rate it on how well my photos are received. I got quite a few "oh wows". I went home happy. I also go out to a nearby watering hole with the boys afterward and we had a good time there too. Here is another photo that I shared last night from a visit to Stahl's auto museum. The item on the left is a carburetor, it is the base of a lamp that you can see the shade reflected in the window on the far left side. I grabbed this photo as I was leaving the museum. You never know what you will find there and it has been about six months since I last visited, so maybe it is time for a return trip. Have a good start to your weekend. LORELL RE: Friday, May 20th, 2022 - Rich - 05-20-2022 A cool start to the weekend coming up. Not only Lorell's photo of that cool lamp and phone but a cold front came through and temps could get near freezing Saturday night for us! Lorell, I hope your daughter keeps getting better. Have a great time! Kudos for the camera club reaction! Well deserved. I was in our camera club for over 20 years and we never went to a water hole after a meeting! Neat! We had our annual banquet each May since we didn't meet in the summer. There were a few glasses of wine drank so I know we weren't teetotaler's! I just learned today from a FB post of a friend that Detroit has an Urban Argihood that grows food in the city, neat! Here is another campus shot. You may remember Sen. George McGovern. He was raised here. In later years he had a home across the street from the campus. He did teach at the College too. RE: Friday, May 20th, 2022 - Dreamin - 05-20-2022 Interesting what they can make lamps out of. I really like the vintage look to your treatment. Nicely done! Rich, that's a pretty library! I like how the pink of the trees is echoed by the pink stone of the library! I do remember McGovern! He was a presidential nominee in 1972 .... I don't have anything fantastic to share today, but I did want to show you all my "mulch" My daughter has been using wood chips in her garden to try to keep the weeds down and also to improve our clay soils. This is the mulch the tree trimmers dropped off for us! Most of it was from my trees they took out for free, and some from my neighbor's two trees......all for free!! I put my car in there for size reference. Talk about a big job ahead!! RE: Friday, May 20th, 2022 - Rich - 05-20-2022 The stone on the building is made from Sioux Quartzite. Very plentiful around here. Most of the buildings were made from it in the 1900's. Many tourists chuckle about our pink roads as it is used for chip sealing asphalt roads, including main street. WoW! You have a lot of mulch to move. Hope you have a loader and not a hand shovel!! |
