Saturday, Jan 15, 2022 - Don - 01-15-2022

Good morning all. I hope that none of you are getting really hammered by the weather this morning. I believe that we are just
south enough to miss most of it, other than some cold temps. DW is out of town, heading to Hilton Head this morning with DD for
a gymnastics match with our granddaughter. Hopefully they will not be returning Monday to some nasty weather either.

I've been enjoying the posts over the past few days, few that they are. That last image that you posted Grant is interesting.
Almost look like a bas relief or similar. Must have taken a lot of time. Lorell, that was quite a creative shot you posted as
well. Thanks for the description on how it was done. Perfect lighting for your pink rose Dave. I could go on, but enought said.

I enjoyed them all and even though I wasn't posting much in the past few days, I check in regularly to see how things are going.
Really haven't been doing any photography to speak of lately.  BUT, day before yesterday I received a pinhole camera that I had
ordered back around the first part of November. It had apparently gotten lost somewhere along the line (it came from somewhere near
Belorus) and I purchased it on Etsy. Really nice work, 4x5 format. I took it out yesterday along with 6 loaded sheets of Ilford
HP+ film and did some test shots. I am happy with the results.

A couple of my favorite little stone "bridge".

More water, different location. I didn't notice the shadow when I took the shot.

Depth of field is awesome with a pinhole camera. The pinhole is 0.3mm which gives an f stop of 260. Requires some calculations to determine
the shutter speed and account for reciprocity failure, but it is fun (and different) to play with.

Hi All!

Don, neat photos from the pinhole camera. I actually made one years ago. Worked out pretty good and fun to play with. I like them all but the "cotton candy" water scenes are my favorite. Someone once said the blurred water is an overdone shot. I don't buy that. Maybe he/she couldn't produce one like yours!

Last two mural shots for awhile. They are still working on them.

Don, I also like the blurred water shots. I appreciate the way your mind is wired, from the willingness to haul cameras and tripods to your sense of how your Previsualization process works. Idea
Rich, More murals Cool!

Good day all.
I too am casting a vote for the blurred water photos.  It is amazing that you are taking them with these vintage cameras.  I hope I can get something as good with my new ND filter that I will be taking to Florida.

Rich, The murals are coming along fine.  Two more good nice creations.

Yesterday Rich said:  Lorell, Popcorn is a Shriner and has been working at the Palace gift shop for over 30 years. Every Christmas he ramrods the Masonic Temple kitchen and serves over 1000 free meals on Christmas Day. He says no one should be alone on Christmas Day.

The Shriners are an awesome organization. They do some really good things for the young people who are ar struggling with health issues.

Good afternoon, Grant.  It is nice that you have been with us everyday recently.  I bet you sure are looking forward to spring. Stay warm.

Well, I am dressed and ready to head over to my daughter's house.  We have an appointment to pick up our new iphones, iPhone 13 (not the pro model, but I am excited anyway).  for sure now I do not have to pack my little Sony point and shoot in my purse.  The 13 should be a big improvement over my iPhone 6s, which did a good job taking pictures.
Here is the last photo that I took with it yesterday when out to lunch with a friend.

Have a great Saturday all.

Good afternoon Rich, Grant and Lorell. Lorell, not a vintage camera on these shots, but a pinhole camera made in Russia. Really good workmanship too. BTW, those tacos look delish.

I'm a bit disappointed in the level of activity lately. Hopefully it is just winter doldrums and it doesn't continue to flag.

Here are a few more from the box of BW negatives and slides that I recently found.

I believe this was in the infield at Daytona Beach Motor Speedway, back when they allowed folks to camp there. I'm with a Navy buddy that I rode motorcycles with. We probably checked out that old canvas tent from the rec department on the base.

Next is a shot from 1975 when DW and I took my motorcycle at the time and traveled up to Gatlinburg, TN from Birmingham. Quite a trip.

Finally, in the "my how things have changed" department, here is our very first pop-up camper, 1980. We had graduated from a tent to a pop-up. It had no A/C and we made the mistake of traveling to the southern tip of Texas in the summer. Of course it was during a heat wave. When we got back home we immediately traded for another pop-up, a bit larger and with an A/C.

It is an interesting read...about a man who casnnot see colour so he does it all in B&W https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-16/photographer-sean-walker-on-shooting-in-black-and-white/100757244

Hi Grant!

Lorell, yes, they are getting the murals done in spite of the weather.
The Shriners here have been in charge of the circus for many years. They go around to business and sell youth tickets and then the business' give them out free.

Should be an interesting learning curve for you on the new phone.
Good photo of lunch, vegan taco?

Don, all good photos and thanks for sharing them. You look so laid back in them. Nice bike!

Yes, a camper with no a/c is not fun unless you camp in the fall and winter!
