Wednesday Oct 21 2026 - Dave - 10-21-2026 In the most recent Weekender Rich hinted that I should post photos of the Halloween display at the home of one neighbor who usually goes all out on a number of holidays throughout the year. But this year's Halloween display isn't nearly as elaborate as he usually creates. So I had to look at some small details he placed in rings of flowers surrounding tree trunks in his front yard... Here in coastal SoCal the forecast calls for rains starting this afternoon and lasting through tomorrow;with intermittent thunderstorms likely. RE: Wednesday Oct 21 2026 - Man From Ironbark - 10-21-2026 Doubt I can add anything as Halloween doesn't have the same influence in Australia. RE: Wednesday Oct 21 2026 - Rich - 10-22-2026 Interesting Dave! Quite the decoration. RE: Wednesday Oct 21 2026 - Dave - 10-22-2026 Hi MFI. As I was creating this thread I suspected that maybe Halloween wasn't as big of a holiday for Australia. Here it seems to get more commercialized and macabre each year. But IMO not as macabre as Mexico's Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). But their holiday strikes me as more of a time to remember and honor the deceased, yet somewhat playful at the same time. Hi Rich. You wrote that the photos were interesting, but IMO not very. RE: Wednesday Oct 21 2026 - Man From Ironbark - 10-22-2026 It defininitely isn't a holiday. RE: Wednesday Oct 21 2026 - Rich - 10-23-2026 Interesting for the trick and treat crowd! Yes I don't consider it a holiday. Just a night that adults can disguise themselves and do dumb things. Fun night for the kiddos though. |
