Weekender June 13th & 14th, 2026 - Rich - 06-13-2026

Greetings all! Here few shots from our first Farmers Market of the summer at the Palace the previous Saturday. We have one every Saturday weather permitting. This one caught a few vendors by surprise. Not many fresh products for sale. Todays was better.

Thanks for the Weekender and the photos, Rich.

Troubling times in many ways for our country; in my nearly 77 years I've never been more worried. So your photos showing what is good in your area (a very clean city, families with multiple generations enjoying a farmer's market, kids running happily about) brought some hope that we can end the growing divisiveness, hatred, intolerance and violence.

I really needed something to give me hope.

Thank you!

Thank you Dave for the comment. Yes, we do have problems in this country. I am glad my post gives you hope. We are not insulated from all that is going on in the world out here in the heartland. However, we do try not to dwell on it and are able to get along peacefully in our town and state. I pray things change for the better soon!

No new photos from me at the moment, so I went back to March 2005 for this unusual tree across the street from a small local park...

It sure looks like some sort of Baobab, but a Google Images search didn't come up with one quite this color, nor one with so many thick spikes on the main trunk.

I bet MFI can identify it.

That is definitely a strange tree. I have never seen one like it. Good composition!

I'm not sure but could it possibly have been this one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceiba_speciosa

Yes, some of the images a Google image search returned for  Ceiba speciosal look very much like my photo.

Thanks.
