RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Dave - 05-10-2026 Stunning, MFI. I have nothing that comes close to the grandeur of these photos; but here's a suburban sunrise I took 5 mornings ago... RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Man From Ironbark - 05-10-2026 I have big skies and if there is decent cloud cover I can get some amazing shots but for about 300 days a year the sky is empty of clouds. RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Rich - 05-12-2026 Wow Peter! First and last, Gobsmacked! I wouldn't like 300 days without clouds! Nice Dave! I like the near and far palm trees as added interest. RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Dave - 05-12-2026 Thanks Rich. RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Man From Ironbark - 05-12-2026 Yeah, 300+ sunny days brings a rather dry humour. Which is why I am fascinated with water even in the smallest moments.
RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Rich - 05-15-2026 Interesting! Looks like a small puddle RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Man From Ironbark - 05-15-2026 I did a series of these at one stage. In the arid country it may be vrey dry but in cooler wetaher small spiderwebs in any small pocket on the ground where they can get out of the wind, Like the tracks of a horse or simply any dimple on the soil surface will have a spider web in it and the dew will collect on these webs making strings of pearls and ebony. The site may be less than 2" square or often about the size of a mounted 35mm transparency or slide. It may be the only sign of moisture that can be seen and gone within an hour or two of sunrise. They may represent as a string of diamonds or pearls and even as dark as ebony, sometimes as rainblow coloured jewels. I try and mostly fail but the odd shot has a fast enough shutter speed to be sharp and some are artistic in their blurriness. Face it, it is usually fairly dark in these small breaks of the flat featureless surface when the camera is barely two inches from the dark space. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unashamed in my curiosity for what the camera will show. RE: Weekender May 9 and 10, 2026 - Dave - 05-15-2026 Very nice set of photos, MFI.
