Weekender 8/9 Feb. 2025 - Dave - 02-08-2025

Welcome to the weekend.

We got a little rain the past few day; not much here by the coast, but more at higher elevations. And fortunately fewer than feared reports of damaging mudslides in the many burn areas left unprotected after our recent fires.

Another floral shot from a garden area of our Central Park...

Yellow & white roses, especially if adorned with dewdrops is as favorite subject of mine.

Mudslides and runoff from burned areas can be quite toxic. Wish the collective people of the world would wake up to itself and accept that we have caused the climate to run amok and only we can change that. The sooner we stop all this other rubbish tallk by politicians and get on with the job of saving our only spaceship, the better.

Another beauty Dave!
Here in Dakota back in the film days, I used to carry a spritzer with water mixed with a bit of glycerin to make dew drops since we didn't get regular rain.

Here is a shot from Belize City from 2005

MFI, I couldn't agree more. As much as I regret not having grandkids, I would not want to bequeath them the world we'd be leaving for them.

Thank you Rich. Like with koi ponds, it;s hard to get a bad photo of yellow roses with dew drops.

As for the photos, very nice Koi pond and A very pretty rose. Yes. It is hard to find a bad yellow rose. Wink

Hi guys,
Well it is time to go watch some commercials, I mean football.
I checked to see Dave's prediction and if I were a betting person, I would bet that he did not bet on the game!
I will be cheering for PHILLY, I usually pick the underdog. I hope it is a close game and provides good entertainment for the folks. I know I won't be watching the half time show, I have no idea who this person is but I guess he is a rapper.  I never understood that style of music.  Ahem, I think they call it music.
Over here in the Detroit area, we are still wearing black for our fallen Detroit Lions. Maybe someday....but I would not bet on it.
Time to go nibble on some wings and salad that my husband just got delivered to the house.  .
See ya all later.
LORELL

I saw an article on the superbowl..

The Kansas City Chiefs are one win away from becoming the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls — a feat that will take many of their already legendary players into the stratosphere of all-time greats.

However, their achievements on the field are being soured by suggestions they have been favoured by NFL referees. Conspiracy theories have been amplified online, where there is a storm of accusations that the fix is in for Kansas City to win.

The online uproar has been so loud that Chiefs players have been confronted with it and the head of the NFL has commented on the saga.

Then I read further and it appears it was Texans were the ones complaining. Ah that explains it.

Hi Lorell.

You are right on two points:

1) I did NOT bet on the game. 2) Rap - here's how I describe it: if you want to become a rich and famous performer but you can't play an instrument or sing worth a damn, you try rap.

MFI, interesting observations on football. Conspiracy theory? Give me a break. I guess they're taking a page out of the MAGA Republicans' playbook, who claim that whenever something doesn't go their way it's because of a massive, deeply hidden conspiracy plot.

One thing early in the game that I noticed came after the officials called two penalties for infractions that weren't blatant but still broke the rules. Both commentators pretty much admitted that they were indeed penalties, but both said that they shouldn't have been called in a game this important, that the officials should let the players decide who wins. But willingly not calling penalties is wrong; intentionally not enforcing the rules or enforcing them inconsistently depending on how important the game may beis wrong.

I am actually glad that there were no close calls or "no calls" that would have decided the game one way or another.
KC didn't come with their A game and the PHILLY took advantage of it. It was a good game for the PHILLY FANS.
I watched the whole thing and enjoyed my team making all of those touch downs.

Yes Dave. "those conspiracy generators".
