Friday Nov 29 2024 - Man From Ironbark - 11-29-2024

Thought I'd have a go at camera movement.
It was during this mornings sunrise.

Good morning MFI. Very interesting photo, very surreal looking. ICM can be fun to play with.

I've got hundreds of photos from our European River Cruise so I should be able to post for quite some time if I so choose. At least until folks get tired of them. But in addition to many "travel snapshots" I also tried to get some semi-serious photos. I converted this photo to B&W, which was taken during a night walk around an Abbey in Prague.

B&W is perfect for that shot, cobblestones and all.

Here's some more art I saw on the interwebs. Wink

Hello all.
Peter, you know my love of abstracts, and I REALLY  like your ICM post. The variegation got lights and darks and shades of red  creates drama and interest . This is worthy of printing.

Don, how exciting to return home with a bucket full of potential winners. You started off well with this moody B&W night scene. I look forward to seeing more.

Well gang, I am on the mend now. My mantra is “slow but steady” and this is day number 23 since surgery. I must admit, I thought the recovery would progress faster and maybe it would have if there wasn’t a major bump in the road that occurred the first week after getting my total hip replacement.

I came home the same day as surgery and for the first few days all was going well but I had no appetite and was barely eating or drinking much. To avoid pain,  infections s and blood clots, the doctor prescribed a myriad of  antibiotics, anti inflammatory pills, aspirin and pain meds. And since I had no appetite and an empty stomach, I really messed up and ended up in the hospital for three days with internal bleeding.

This was worse than the hip surgery since I was confined to a hospital bed for three days as  my hemoglobin dropped from 13.1 presurgery level to 7.1. My veins in my arms also collapsed and went into hiding and it was torture for the specialist to start a new IV  prior to an endoscopy that was scheduled to see what was happening on the inside.

I really did a number on myself by taking those meds on an empty stomach. I have a duodenal ulcer and  damage to my esophagus and stomach lining. I was released after three days and came home with more pills. I was now taking 14 pills in one day and they had to be timed at specific intervals. Certain pills had to be taken on an empty stomach, others on a full stomach, some not within 30 minutes of other pills and another not within 2 hours of another pill .

OMG, the first night I was home from the hospital , I was crying as I tried to assemble my “ pill log”. But I did it, and after 10 days, I am down to 10 pills a day.

I started PT. That is going well and my hip is getting stronger every day. I feel I would be much further ahead had it not been for the internal bleeding and I learned a good lesson, follow the warnings on the labels! I have no one to blame but myself.

Well, thanks for your messages and concern.
And a belated HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
LORELL

RE: Friday Nov 29 2024 - Don - 11-29-2024

Welcome back Lorell! I think we were all beginning to worry, and it sounds like you have been through quite an ordeal. Glad to hear that things are so much better now.

Yes, I do have a few photos. Smile I've already posted a couple and I'm sure more will come.

RE: Friday Nov 29 2024 - Rich - 11-29-2024

Greetings all. I have been enjoying all the photos posted in the last few days!
Don, you have some awesome photos of your trip. The foggy photo of the town is beautiful as is this one of the lamps and cobblestone streets.

Peter, your sunrises are interesting as is the ICM. Interesting "art."

Dave, ambitious menu. You are more creative than I am. I opted for rotisserie chicken for the main event.

Lorell, I am so sorry to hear of your difficulties with recovery. That was/is a difficult road to travel. I will keep you in my prayers for recovery. Glad you are able to do PT for that will build strength. My therapist said to walk, walk, walk. Hang in there, it all takes time! A doctor acquaintance of mine said you will notice things change for the better even after a year or more. I was still having trouble with balance when I was standing talking to someone. I had to lean against a wall or hold on to something. A few months ago I noticed (in church) when I stood up I did not need to hold on to anything. After church I was able to visit with friends with no weaving around.

No photo today. Need to get out and about to find one.

Thanks for the comments on my moving reds. I liked it too.

Oh dear Lorell. That sounds like you've had quite a nasty time. Was it the asprin on an empty stomach that did it?

At least it appears that otherwise, the hip OP was successful. Do all the prescribed exercising and you will be able to get out and make beautiful photos again.

RE: Friday Nov 29 2024 - Luv2shoot - 11-29-2024

Thanks you all for the words of encouragement. I did not mean to worry you but I did not have much energy for quite some time and was disconnected from almost everything.

I have missed so many good club photo field trips . Our club has grown so much that now the number of club members attending the outings is averaging around a dozen. That is really great .
Our club was planning another trip to take photos of the famous steam engine, the Pere Marquette 1225 but unfortunately an announcement was just released that the locomotive has some serious issues with the superheater. The super heaters poor the pressurized steam back through the hot gas of the fire a second time to add more heat to the steam. For an engine this size, there are. more than 8,000 feet o superheating tubing. It all has to be inspected and restored. And these super heaters are deep inside the boiler.

This is a real bummer for the club members who were all excited about photographing this historic engine. Hopefully next year I can join them.

Peter, that is a beautiful sky and silhouette of the skyline. It looks so peaceful. And Peter, I think I recently read about the art work of the banana duct taped to a blank canvas. How insane.

Thanks Lorell and please do get well again soon.

Here's some flowers. May brighten up your day?

Two excellent, very different images, gentlemen. Top-notch work.

Maybe I'm an unrefined barbarian but that banana/duct tape isn't art. Reportedly, the buyer paid over $6 million - clearly someone with far more money than common sense.

Lorell, I'm so sorry for what you endured. But it's very good that you are now properly on the mend.

Our Thanksgiving meal plans didn't happen; the aging oven decided late on Thanksgiving Eve that it had labored for enough. Now it's fit only for storing pots & pans. We could have crammed the turkey into a large counter=top oven, but it would surely have burnt. We'll arrange a time to use our daughter's kitchen to try pulling together our feast.

Lovely pastel sky, MFI. And the red flowers do brighten things up.
