I have 3 PECAN trees, not walnut...and each is about 80 years old. And about 60 - 70 feet tall.....my brother has a small machine you crank the nuts through and it partially cracks them, making it easy to sit down at the table and pick out the meats. Unfortunately, when my mother used to shell them, she did it one at a time with a nut cracker. And she did so many. I hope you make your mom's cookies one day, for remembrance.

Wow, 60-70 feet tall .
How do you get the nuts out of the trees. Are they still producing a lot of nuts?

Lorell, We do not make our Kimchi dumplings. A bag of 20-25 frozen costs around $5.00. Prefer to put our efforts into homemade Chicken Broth made from mature laying hens. We start with a few liters of broth bring it to a slow boil. Add chunks of cabbage, onion, garlic, grated ginger, red and green pepper, thin cut smoked ham, Chinese 5 spice, a few ounces of Sesame oil, freshly ground pepper, Sweet Thai Chile sauce, broccoli spears, cilantro, shrimp, fine rice noodles, and Kimchi dumplings. Mostly it matters in what order everything goes into the pot.
Right now our temp is -33° C. With the wind chill it feels like -40° C. Remember -40°C = -40°F.
Extra food is frozen solid in our vestibule.

I think my trees have reached their old age status.....no producing much in the last couple of years. I got  several gallons of nuts from my brother's trees this year....the trees NUTS drop to the ground when ripe, Lorell. Then we just have to pick them up.

Natalie, Does that mean the trees fall over?, or the pecans fall to the ground?

RE: Food - Dreamin - 12-20-2022

Ha ha ha ha ha!! You got me on that one! The NUTS fall to the ground. ......although the trees are very brittle wood, and every spring we have a ton of branches to pick up to clean the yard as they dead branches break in the winter storms.....

Almost 40-50 years ago we coined the name "Egg Pizza" mostly so the  [3 sons would eat eggs in an Omelette]
This one is layered starting with a smoked ham.
